What to do, What to do.....335vsM3
Well I just got a call today that I never thought would happen. BMWNA has officially stated that they will be doing a full buy back of my 2008 e92 335 due to all the issues I had in the past year, i.e. two HPFP failures, etc..
So now I dont know what to do. I really like the 335, the way it drives and feels (especially when its tuned) plus its got more tourque than the M3 and is faster when tuned. However, the M3 has better styilng. So what would you guys do? Get the same car or M3 or dare I say something else since I am basically getting everything back and can do whatever I want. |

They give you your down payment and all back? So you dont lose anything? Your in LA which has nice weather, right? M3 and now you get the updated 09 stuff like the new idrive.

Why not get a 335 then add on the m3 front bumper? I've seen one somewhere around the forums that was made to fit the 335. I mean, if you're getting a complete buy back of your car, why not?

Don't get the M3 based on looks. Get it because you want its performance. Otherwise stick with a tuned 335i especially if you think torque is what you'll miss the most.

Yup complete buy back including my down payment, anything I spent on the car that was bought from a BMW dealer like my pedals and M3 spoiler(invoice required) and all the monthly payments I have made till now. I coulnt believe it either, I figured they would give back the down payment but not my monthly payments. So I dont lose anything. Sounds to good to be true, huh.
Slowpoke I had the aero kit on it so I would probably stick with the same kit that way its covered by BMW. Well the M3's majority of performance is on the track which I dont spend alot of time on so on the street a tuned 335 is a better performer but I'm not sure if I will miss the tourque as much if I get a DCT. Its a hard choice but one that I dont mind having to make |

trust me after you hear the v8 scream to 8300rpm your heart will skip a beat and the seat will get wet lol. you can get the exhasut , intake and chip and ive seen people get 50hp out of those three things for the new m3 if you need more power. but i would say m3 hands down

I have come back to my senses due to price and practicality (the CS) and price and gas mileage (the M3). Affording it is not really the problem but I just can't break the promise I made to myself years ago (no cars under 20 mpg) or it would be the M3. He's got all of that money laying around and may not have the hangups I have, so get the M3. |

I'd say it depends on what you want/need the car for.... They're essentially two completely different cars built on completely different concepts. You know very well how the 335 drives and feels; go ahead and test drive an M3 for a bit, and if it is worth the increase, get it. If not, don't.
And do you really want another 335 if you've already gotten a buyback based on HPFP failures....? Especially since we know already that there is no solid replacement pump? |
