Second Creek VS Pueblo

I took a RMCBMWCCA driving school at Second Creek back in the day. I am debating on taking another one soon, which means it'll probably be in Pueblo, at least until the HPR / BMWCCA snafu is un-fu'ed. I was wondering if people that have driven both tracks could compare them. How are speeds, corners, etc. Is one more fun than the other? Better/worse run-outs?

Pueblo is the *better* track, no doubt, higher speeds on the straights, more technical corners, especially 1, 2, 3 and 5, 6a, 6b and better surface/curbing.

But I sure do miss 2nd creek for the fun factor. I remember 4 wheel drifting my E30 M3 through 88th, Kamikaze and the kink, no lift, no brake - man that was pure unadulterated, adrenaline laden fun. Second creek was especially great in lower horsepower cars, my E30 M3, my old mk1 GTI (especially backwards-the track, not the car), but Pueblo is really better suited for higher horsepower cars. The first time I got my E46 M3 on the track at Pueblo I was in heaven.

Neither track had/has great runoff. I've been in the weeds on both. Bent wheels at both. I probably have more concern about a sideways off at Pueblo than I ever did at Second Creek due to the sandy nature of the soil. Nevertheless, I have been off more as a driver and as an instructor at Pueblo than I ever was at SC-go figure.

If you haven't done Pueblo, you owe it to yourself to do it, it is a lot of fun with lots of challenges. The first time you set up the 5 and 6a, 6b combo right and drive through there and never move the wheel, and are placing the car with the throttle only and flying into 7 at unbelievable speeds, wow!

My 335i will see about 130 down the front straight; Procede cars have been observed to top 140! My E30 M3 will see about 115 mph if I get a good run out of 10. Conversely, the M3 will come out of 1 at close to 70 whereas the 335i will only be about 65. Both are stock.

Visit the rmcbmwcca Web site - there is a video there of a lap or two around Pueblo.
