Not trying to be condescending, but did you push the snowflake button? (Is it lit up?)

well if you get in it and then immediately blast the cool air in my experience it takes a couple of minutes for it to be what you might like. Especially in a Black on Black car i mean its annoying and i have not experienced this in my BMW yet (though i just got it and in NY its still in the 30s except today it was 60 )make sure it is on the little snowflake button and the dial is turned towards the cool side and Congrats on the car hope i helped a little

If he hit the MAX button, that turns the AC on automatically. It seems weird that the dealer didn't activate something during shipping, it seems more likely that something might not be plugged in right, or the compressor was just bad to begin with. things happen.

Good to know that they are taking care of it.

I also let the A/C run for quite a bit and at varying temps and fan speeds as I understand some cars do take a while to activate the A/C. Warm air that hasn't cooled after 10-15 minutes seems a bit on the high side, though.

Is there a fuse that might have blown that shut down the compressor?
The A/C is fused by numbers 15 & 61, if you wanted to check them out.

Not to be a wise a$$, but don't you have any faith that a BMW technician would be able to diagnose the problem on the OP's vehicle without this piece of advice? I mean, just because it was the cause of your problem doesn't mean it is the only cause and there might be something else as the culprit. Do you go to your physician and tell him that your friend had a similar malady as you and that he should check out so and so? I would think you would want him to do a full diagnostic exam so he doesn't miss anything....

Just my $.02....

He's just trying to help. We have all had the experience where we get our cars back and we get the "could not replicate" story.

Understandable, but if the A/C is blowing hot all the time, "could not replicate" does not apply here....OP didn't say this was an intermittent problem.

I'm a little irritated that my week-old car is acting up already, but my car does kick ass and the dealer took great care of me. I guess I can't complain too much.
Cool. Shit happens and it's good that you're being taken care of. My wife's Mini Cooper came off the boat with a busted shift mechanism. After two days, we had to take it into the shop, where it sat for a week. These things happen...

Was the car moving during the time that you wanted to cool the car?

I dont know if this applies to the A/C in our cars but i used to drive an F150, and it'd be really hot out, like 90 and sunny. and i'd turn the engine on and hot air or warm air would come out. But a while after i started driving it, it cooled. Not sure if this is the same situation for BMW A/C

so much for that big check list they have for preping your new BMW.

they never checked the sun roof on mine, so i returned to the dealer the next morning.

something to do the SW programing.

In any car, though, it'll always take a few minutes to get the system up and running properly once the engine is started. I don't think that's specific to any automaker.

My bad, i didnt read much of the thread
