For those that have vinyl roofs
I have an AW 08 E92 335i
Just wondering how much you paid? How well is the vinyl holding up after a long period of time? Does the surface scratch easily? I am going to get mine wrapped next week, the cheapest place i could find was a place to do it for $260 (Around $200US) however the shop does have a very good reputation and i was promised nothing but perfection. I don't know whether to go with Matt black or a Gloss black, because i am also going to be getting the window trim matt black to match everything else? (Wheels and kidneys are black) I also am unsure on whether or not to leave the sharkfin white? For those that have it done, can you post some pictures to see different results? Looks as good as any vinyl roof I've ever seen. Why in Zeus's name would anybody want to cover their roof in vinyl? It can only diminish the...'roofiness' of the roof and looks like ass straight from a Malaise-era Mustang or Cordoba. Ghetto as hell.

Check out the link: This car is black and completely wrapped in white vinyl. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/651...lack-or-white/ Heres a vinyl wrapped exotic: So i guess that car must now be ghetto as hell by your standards since the whole car (not just the roof) is covered in vinyl. I like the look of it, and i rather not paint it unless i want to sell the car one day and potential buyers don't like the roof being a different color. If so then i can just take off the vinyl and not worry about it. If anything its just going to protect my roof more. I want to do it because it will go well with my white on black theme. |

re:"roofiness". The roof (or entire body for that matter) is designed to offer protection from wind, rain, and the sun. In what way does covering it in something that can get water trapped underneath, creating a rust risk, can come loose and flap in the wind, and degrades under UV radiation an advantage to have on the roof? The only purpose of a vinyl roof is to pretend you have a convertible whose top can't be lowered. From wikipedia...

I had a vinyl-covered roof on my '68 GTO. I removed it because it looked ghey, even on a 1968. But that's up to you. It's your car. If you want to cover it in dogshit and vomit, you're welcome to do so. Don't let anyone else tell you it's stupid; after all, you're the one who paid for it.

At life. Your not worth arguing with.
To each their own. I didn't ask people whether they think its ghetto or not or what they think about it. If you weren't so stupid you would have read my thread title and noticed that i am asking for opinions from people that have done this mod. (Which many have) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228001 This won't be for everybody but seriously.. Ragingclue- Your compare it to dog shit and vomit? lol |

BTW- the cost will be a lot more than $250 because the depreciation will be huge. |

I think the OP may just be referring to the roof panel, not the entire roof like old school cars were. In that case, I'd be inclined to call ///M poser on the sight of a carbon or black-roofed 3er.

BTW- Its not a permanent modification to the vehicle that can't be reveresed. It's pretty much a huge ass sticker on the roof that can be removed very easily. Like i mentioned earlier (I'll make a point of it again since you can't read) If i were to sell my car i would consider taking it off. So where is my depreciation? |

I think crave's post was funny as all hell.
Everyone here should stop taking themselves (and their cars, and their mods) so god damned seriously. Yeah, right, like that's ever going to happen. |
