My heated seat coils are burning through my seats...anyone else have this problem?

Was cleaning my car and took the seat covers off and to my surprise the heated seat coils are burning through the seats themselves...to the point there are dark coil lines going down both seats...I have a cream biege interior so the come in extra dark....im going to the dealer this weekend to get them looked at. Anyone else have or heard of this problem?

When you say seat covers I am assuming you have some form of sheep skin or other covers. These covers over the seats will create a nice wall to trap the heat from the coils and discolor the seat surface. Ditch the covers or don't use the heated seats.

Holy crap. Looking forward to seeing the photos. I have a light interior, too, and use the heated seats a ton with no problems in 3 years. I love the heated seats.

That seems odd. If they are the oem covers there should be no side effects at all by using them. I would make that a top priority to have that looked at by the dealer and make sure you have the covers with you so they see and understand what happened.

Yea..its going this weekend...my SA told me this has happened before and they are because of faulty coils in the seat and that they use "new" material to insulate the 09 models that will not harm the seats. The last guy who had them replaced there said the faulty coils burned right through the seat and branded his wallet and part of his jeans....

Look closely... they're hard to see, but they somewhat resemble veins underneath skin.

+1 The right side is more prevalent than the left but they are getting darker by the day
