Really miffed...

So, on this second run group at Laguna on monday..I just checked the tape..and for the second lap of my second session ...where I was actually going pretty well..I was doing a 1:47.X...tires were very grippy and cold...but then that dreaded CEL/limp mode came..and that was that. Ugh. I want a 1:46...I think I could really get a 1:44 if I had the following:

1) 265 Hoosiers on all four corners
2) Limited Slip Diff
3) Adjustable camber plates so I can get negative 2+ camber in front (to help me with T3 and T9)
4) Aggressive alignment

Oh well...probably will never know now.

So you're running stock tune now?

Considering the E92 M3 ripped a 1:43.7 on street tires, I gotta imagine you can get pretty close to that if you had more power and LSD.

Let me know if you want to get rid of those 888s locally Steve. Don't want to cut in line, but if things don't work out then let me know.

I just got my wheels .. Same as yours (really liked the setup you have and decided to get the same thing) and some Re-01R's in 235-40-18 for $108 each duringthe Tire Rack closeout deal... Have not used the new setup yet..
so I don't need any new ones just yet... Are the R888's R compounds? If so then out of my league for now anyway... Have you ever tried to run 245's on these rims? Would that rub the fender with the 32 offset? I might try that next time either 245-35 or 245-40

Let me know

Pretty sure 245/35/18s would fit..not sure about the 245/40 as they may be too tall. Yes, the R888s are R compounds. However, the following disclaimer...tire manufacturers vary in their sizes..sometimes a tire one size will fit..and another the same size from another manufacturer will NOT fit..they do vary..also..R compounds tend to run a bit wider than their high performance street tire alternatives.

No worries, if you wanted them then go right on ahead. I'll likely use them on an autoX setup even though they're more suited for RR. It'll be good for the hot autoX days when I don't want the tires to overheat quickly. I'll be fine without them too but I am on the lookout for any good deals on R-compounds.

Chowbow...they are actually seeming like more of a Time Trial tire rather than one that lasts well thru a 30 minute track session..they actually might be decent in autocross. I will let you know. They are 235/40/18s.

Yeah, some autoX guys like them and some don't... I think it'd be a good autoX tire because it heats up quicker than most RR tires, but they do get greasy when pushed too hot I heard. I've never driven on them personally but I'm interested if you do want to get rid of them. No rush, just PM me whenever.

Those should fit. I stuffed in 265-35R18 on 18x9.5 wheels at all 4 corners!

1:44? Hmm....If I was only a second slower than you before when you had the Quaife, does it mean I did a 1:45 on Monday?

I was just saying that if I had all that stuff....I think I might be able to do a 1:44..Did you film your laps on Monday...? Maybe you can get your estimated time from the film.

I did, but I was in a cowboy group! I had to flash my lights and raise my fist to get a pass done! I don't know if I ever had a clean lap or two.

Oh yeah...btdt...that gets annoying..that is why doing the last run group of the day is sometimes good...you get clean laps.
