Are you going to keep your 335 when the warranty runs out?

Just curious to know....

It sounds like a lot of people have had fuel pump failures with the 335s. So my question is, are you (335 owners) going to consider selling your car when the warranty runs out? I mean, the fuel pump alone can cost major dollars. From what I've read here, some people have already had their fuel pump replaced several times.

Garage List
Make a poll. Include maybe as a choice (because that's my answer).

Too late now. I can't add a poll with the edit function.

It's too early to tell. It really depends on the next 2 years. I love the car and I don't mind paying for repairs but I will not sink money into a money pit.

We'll see how reliable the car is in time .. some people are just now reaching 50k.

imho letting a warranty drive a buy or sell decision is a lack of understanding of cause and effect. Warranty running out, let me spend 54k for a new car, so I don't have to pay out of pocket for a repair. Does a BMW turn into a pumpkin when the warranty runs out at month 49 or mile 50,001? It's a great time to work for BMWFS I guess with this type of thinking....kinda like the raise price by 4k, offer 2.9%, and buyers will come. Or are they smarter than that? The full lots seem to imply people are smarter than that. But people buying extended warranties, maintenance, tire protection (myself included @ $390 DOH!), paint protection, just goes to show you how risk averse humans are. $$$ for the bean counters and underwriters...

I kept my 2002 330i for 7 years. The annual spend on fixing the car was not too bad. I think I spend around $1200 in non wear repairs in 3 years. I do plan on keeping my 335 for at least 5 years.

I've been dreaming about owning a BMW my whole life........my 335 won't be the first and it won't be the last.

I intend to keep my car for at least 5 yrs, probably more like 10.

It's not my daily driver, in 6 mo I have only put on 4000km......so at this rate it will have around 100,000km on it in 10yrs so that would be about the right time to replace her.

My decision to buy the 335 was based on the incredible features, power, and style our cars have. If I worried about the HPFPs, waste-gates, software issues, etc. I'd have never bought the car. I certainly wouldn't get rid of any properly working car because my warranty was up. If it was a lemon during the warranty period, that's a different story.

I have 48K on mine now. Going in for my last paid for oil change soon. When I hit 50k I will be out of warranty and I'm keeping the car for a few more years.

I looked at getting the extended warranty and extended maintenance but decided not to and here is my reasoning. The dealer offered me the warranty for $3500 +tax and the maintenance for $2300 +tax. That comes out to $5800 and with tax that is over $6000 for both extended warranty and maintenance.

I figured I will do my own brakes and oil changes so that is a big chuck of the extended maintenance price right their. I figure if I spend less then 6k over the next 2.5 years or so for maintenance and repairs I will be a head of the game. I say 2.5 years because I put 20k a year on the car and will be at 100k 2.5 years from now.

I'm currently logging miles at 19k per year, so I'm thinking before the extended warranty runs out, I'll price third-party offerings and make my decision based on that. The car is by far the best all-rounder car I've ever had. But, even with snow tires, I still feel much better taking the Disco.

I have every intention to keep mine for at least 7-10 years. The N54 is BMW's new crown jewel. It's made its way into nearly every model in the lineup.

I'm pretty convinced that by the time my warranty runs out (3+ yr), one of two things will happen:
1) The end of american civilization
2) BMW will have a permanant fix for the HPFP.

These cars are also fairly common in Seattle, so there are some smaller shops that know a thing or two about BMWs. Hopefully that will help with ongoing costs.
