Has anyone bought a non-CPO car?
Guys, thinking of getting a non-CPO 330i
What are the potential downfalls? Oil changes / tune-ups / belt replacements how much do these things cost? If the price is right for the non-cpo car, do you think its worth it? What do you guys think annual upkeep (maintenance, small repairs) would be for a non-certified I guess last thing is... what would be a good price for a relatively good conditioned 330i sold by a non-BMW dealer? Thanks guys |

I got a Non CPO myself.
Took the vin # to the dealer and found the service records in place. Throughly checked the tires/wheels/ functions / toolkit/ every single thing. All inspection was done during day time. Bottomline - Driven 15K+ after that. No regrets. Have the warranty on the car till 50k anyway. Not sure what mileage is the 330i you are looking at |

well thats a good sign. The standard warranty though is for 4 years / 50K miles (but whichever comes first)
so that means this car, it only has like 16k miles on it, but the warranty will still expire in like 8 months since it was bought in 2005 right? |

i bought a non cpo but i had over a year on the warranty. imo shouldnt get that car because in those eight months u will barely take in the car twice.the maintenance program is meant to save u alot of money.if u have the extra money u can get the extended warranty for an additional two years

non cpo car here...put 12000 on it since last year and havent regretted anything....I finished out the vehicles regular 4/50k warranty with no probs and bought a third party warranty for up to 72000 miles..a lil pricey and not as good as BMW but it was factored into the financing so i cant complain...
no complaints here...car has been a gem

I got a non-CPO that had 16,800 miles and still had 2 years on the warranty. I bought it in Dec and have had to have the HPFP replaced and the software updated to resolve a problem with the Steering column. I also bought an extended warranty from the dealer I bought from to cover it for an additional 40,000 miles or 3 years after the factory runs out.

Non-cpo here also.
Make sure you do a carfax, turn your radio off, take it for a ride by your self, get it washed(if its too dirty to see scratches), inspect every panel for damages, pop the hood, inspect for front bumper damage and originality, (use common sense to look at engines cleanliness), roll all the windows up/down, sunroof, ac air on/of-check for cold air, turn steering wheel lock to lock-listen for clunks, go over bumps to inspect shocks, look at wheels for scratches, tires for wear, do all the interior/exterior light inspection, do a brake check, check trunk for cleanliness and also rear bumper for damage and originality, look at interior carpet/seats for stains, door panels for wear I learned all this from my used car manager. Do all this only to the the car you definately you want to buy(color, model, trans). As far as oil changes, I know you cant check that, but you can ask the seller to provide the maintenance records and they should have no problems giving it to you. I could go on, but thats just what came to mind. I love my ride, thousands below cpo and a clean non damaged car, could not be happier. I can honestly say this baby is a still a cherry! Sorry to make this long, hope that helped. To answer your last question, the credit where I bought my car has a very clean 330 auto sport package no nav for for 21900 Here is a link http://www.imcu.com/auto_center_auto4sale.aspx

Guys thats really helpful.
I was thinking of getting also a non-cpo 335, but now that I hear about the fuel pump issue, I'm not so sure... Does the fuel pump issue occur on the 328i or 330i as well? Also, I see some cars that were bought CPO'd and now they're selling it, so the car now has some of its original warranty and the extended CPO warranty. If I were to buy that car, do I still get the CPO warranty that the 2nd buyer got when he got the car? Thanks for all the responses! |
