Dispute With Dealer

So I just bought a 2007 e93 convertible and it was listed with "premium audio" ... now it did not explicitly state logic 7, but what is premium audio? Is that stock audio? As far as I'm concerned premium audio would imply logic 7, not stock factory.

The listing states: Premium audio..."(10) speakers w/(2) subwoofers,"

Any input/advice would be appreciated

Is it a 335?, if so they came stock with Logic 7. If it is a 328, Logic was an option.

edit: your in Canada where I don't think Logic 7 was standard. Just ask which system it is.

It's a 2007 328i e93, purchased from Florida.

'imply' meaning you're assuming that premium = logic7. It doesn't, premium is premium, logic7 is logic7 as bsamoul said, what's there to dispute?

Then you will need to find out if it had the optional system. My Logic 7 says something like BMW professional sound or something like that on the left side of the unit.

The dispute is that: Stock = Hifi (the term used by bmw)

Premium would imply something more then stock.

you keep on using the word 'imply'. In North America, Stock = HiFi = Premium. Logic 7 = Logic 7. So no, 'premium' doesn't imply that it's 'logic 7', it's your own assumption. If the option list did not specifically spell out the car is equipped with Logic 7, then it's not. What don't you get?

328 premuim (is what comes with the car not Logic7) Logic7 is an option in the 328. I know because I assisted a friend make his selections in NY. Logic7 was extra $$$ for him. I couldn't convince him to get a 335 instead. He couldn't feel the difference apparently. Maybe he's been driving too many Humvees

(He is in the US Army). I guess anything faster than Humvee to him feels really fast.

You guys seem to get the premium sound system as standard. This is a 10 speaker system with a separate amplifier and includes 2 under seat subs, tweeters in the mirror triangles, mid range in the front doors and midrange and tweeters in the back door/back panel.

Logic 7 adds two speakers in the rear parcel shelf and one speaker in the middle of the front fascia plus additional amplification.

In Britain the standard sound system has no tweeters at all and all amplification is from the head unit so believe me, from our point of view your standard supply "premium" system is pretty good!

If the OP had received what we get as standard, he would have been right to be miffed about it but I don't think there has been any deliberate attempt to con the OP.

I used to install professionally for 3 years. One of my old shop's accounts was a BMW dealer in NJ.

I got what you got for 2 reasons.
1. It was cheap. It sounds fine.
2. The upgrade is a huge ripoff. If I want more, I will install aftermarket with the money I saved and really crush the Logic 7 for the same money, moreso if I want more and I want to spend the cash.
If you don't have the car yet, I would wait till you have it and listen to it. Mine is fine with the top up any speed and down under 50mph, which is most down driving. I did get the integrated Ipod hookup as my only option and skiped on the Logic 7, HD, changer, Satellite, etc. That saved me $2220 in upgrades (well minus the $400for Ipod) You could get the best stereo within a 5 mile radius with that coin at a good shop.

Don't get it if you plan on installing a stereo yourself, otherwise if you don't want to go through the hassle of installing new speakers, just go ahead and get it.

I will def call BS on this one. Yes, some aftermarket systems could be better then logic7.

But there is nooo way, for "the same money" you will achieve anywhere near the sound quality of the logic7 system.

Just picked up the car yesterday and it actually has Logic 7

The warranty report which lists any recalls, vin number, date of production, options etc.... did not show it as an option.

I got in the car, scrolled to audio settings, and there it was Logic 7. Theater, concert hall options, eq etc.

I must say the stereo is the BEST stock system I have heard. Well, its about the same as my uncles s550, that has logic 7 too I believe.

So I'm a happy camper
