Carrera S

I was having some fun with carrera s today. I was pretty surprised when he couldnt pull an inch on me in 3rd, 4th or 5th.

I was drafting him most the time.....does that make that big of a difference?

It was raining buckets today, I'm pretty sure he wasn't trying too hard to lose you. Either that, or you're both out of your mind.

+1. Street racing is already dumb enough. Street racing in unsafe condition is dumb to the 10th power.

hope you guys were on a very empty road or hwy.
I do understand the urge to race when you own a fast car but i sure hope you went endangering others.
It's total cool if you want to risk your own life. . .
Just don't be dumb enough to hurt others.

Read the OP's sig: he drives a Dinan Stage II 335xi. I figure his car has the better power-to-weight ratio. If not, it's damn close.

Hey, let the 335xi guy enjoy the myth he's created for himself. He paid 50k, he's entitled to believe what he wants.

Thumbs down

Umm, on a track it would tool you. Easy.

This thread is dumb. Racing in the rain is stupid.

same here.

anyways porsche had the jump in first due to my wheel spin (cold weather summer tires on my car).

by the end of 2nd gear i was about 1/2 car length ahead and pulling.

Dinan stage 2 no joke.

Depends on which 911 model and which track. And of course, on the driver in the Porsche and in the BMW.

Given equal drivers, it would not depend on the track. Stock for stock the 911's past and present were designed for the track. Our 335's are not.

After driving my car at 15psi, my old man admitted that my car felt faster than his ('06 997S).

I'd have to agree, but the porsche would bully me pretty badly on a track (although, he's a better driver than I am), and it's not like I wouldn't trade my car for his any day of the week

Present cars excepted, but older Porsches required too much finesse to go at the limit around corners. It'd take an excellent driver to do this without spinning out, giving the win to the BMW driver. Given the same excellent driver, then yes, the older Porsche would win. I don't know many people who're this good.

It's just a guess on my part though; I could be wrong, though the older 911s were extremely tail happy.
