Lucky to be alive...
On January 24th coming home with 2 passengers in my e90, I got cut off and hit to pop my car up on the curb. After jumping the curb i proceeded to hit a bus bench which spun my car around and threw me into two poles, one being a street lamp pole and the other being a telephone pole. The emt's had to use the jaws of life to get me out of the car. I had 2 collapsed lungs, punctured spleen and my diaframe was all out of wack. I spend a week in Intensive care but have been home now for a while. The doctor said i am healing faster then many people he has had to do surgery on. Maybe it's because I am 21. But, whatever it is, someone wanted me here so I am very thankful.
Both passengers walked away without a scratch. I was lucky to be in my BMW. It saved my life and my passengers life's, no question. I will be parting out what I can of my car. It will be posted up soon. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...94#post4424594 I am in the process of ordering an 2009 135i. I think that will be a great little car. I am pretty excited about that. Any questions are welcome.

Wow. I'm gald you are okay. I'm assuming you were wearing your seatbelt. You should post this in the thread about disabling the seatbelt chime. I know the OP said she's now wearing her seatbelt. But this just provides further reinforcement.

I am more than a little surprised that your air bag did not deploy... I see the side curtains, but your steering wheel is intact. Was most of the impact directed at the left side of the car? There appears to be significant damage to the front as well, but perhaps it is collateral damage from the side impact.
Lucky you were in the car you were in. I am going to guess that your rear seat passenger was on the right side of the car. Last edited by MrClean; 02-06-2009 at 03:52 PM.. |

What does that have to do with anything? The OP said they got cut off, not racing!
Glad to hear you are healing well OP

This car just like my next one will be purchased with my money. No help here from mom and dad if that's what your saying. And, I will buy my kids BMW's after seeing how well they do in crashes =). Wouldn't want to be your child.
Thanks for all the love guys. In a couple weeks i should be back to my old self. Which will be great! I am very thankful that I was in a bmw. I was going 45mph, but the curb probably slowed me down a small amount. So, 45 give or take a few. They are not OEM m5 wheels. They are the reps that miro made. They looked nice though and I liked them alot. I thought that the Steering wheel airbag not deploying was a little on the weird side as well. Yes, all the impact was on the left side. So, I guess BMW's are pretty damn smart haha. Whatever the car did, I would not change it though, very lucky here. The insurance company has taken a no questions asked stance. They have already issued a check my way and have been nothing but great. So, no need for a lawyer (crosses fingers) Thanks again guys for all the good wishes.

WOW...
It is amazing that you are alive. Glad that your buddies are okay, because you'd be living with the guilt if one of them died. Glad to hear that you are getting better.

So can I ask (if you don't mind me asking), what happened to the person that cut you off?

Haha, i thought about a 550 for sure. But, after driving one, it's just to big for me. So, it's all about that 1 series =). That or an m3. I was going around 45mph give or take a few.
