I still love my 07 335i Version 2
I am in a bit of a state of shock right now. Is BMW trying to go out of Business? Check out these prices. By the way I paid $43,500 for my 07 ED 335i.
Note: The 335i is optioned the same as my car, no Nav, MT. Add these two and it would cost $3525.00 more or $54,185. With the global economy the way it is this sucks to see. 335i Sedan 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine Rear-wheel drive See all standard features Base MSRP $40,300 Alpine White $0 Chestnut Brown Dakota Leather $0 Dark Burl Walnut wood trim $0 Premium Package $2,650 Sport Package $2,150 Comfort Access system $500 Heated front seats $500 Smartphone Integration $150 iPod and USB adapter $400 Logic7 sound system with Surround Sound and Digital Sound Processing $875 Satellite radio with 1 year subscription $595 Park Distance Control $750 iPodŽ Interface Adapter $320 SIRIUS Satellite Radio $645 Destination & Handling: $825 Total MSRP as Built $50,660 335d Sedan 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine Rear-wheel drive See all standard features Base MSRP $43,900 Alpine White $0 Chestnut Brown Dakota Leather $0 Dark Burl Walnut wood trim $0 Cold Weather Package $1,150 Premium Package $2,650 Sport Package $2,150 Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters $100 Comfort Access system $500 Navigation system $2,100 Smartphone Integration $150 HD radio $0 iPod and USB adapter $400 Premium hi-fi system $875 Satellite radio with 1 year subscription $595 Park Distance Control $750 iPodŽ Interface Adapter $320 SIRIUS Satellite Radio $645 Destination & Handling: $825 Total MSRP as Built $57,110 Red

I dont get it
Are you comparing your ED price to MSRP prices? Course there will be a huge difference between the two.

True. Well thanks to the value of the dollar, BMW had to do something.
Enjoy your 07 335i.

We still get these cars much cheaper than 90% of the world though, so I'm sorry if I'm not too sympathetic to your plight. Like Crazy said, enjoy your 07. PS: You know there's this nifty little feature called "Edit" that will allow you to (wait for it...) edit your posts. This way, you don't have to go and create a "part 2" if you mess something up. Just figured I'd share. |

I don't know, if we wanted to say, "What's the point?" We could apply that question to about 85% of the threads on this forum!
I can only say that given my income level (I don't buy into the spend 1/2 annual salary on a car thinking), 40,300 is a lot for a car, and that was the base MSRP on my 335 when I bought it way back when in 12/06. That's 42,200 today. So it is unfavorable to buy a 2k9 v. 2k7--my 1,700 off is not even on equal ground to 3,600 off on a 2k9, as Logic 7 is now optional, and other option packages have also been increased in price. It does seem easy to market to Americans by giving them less for more. It's happened to many products we pickup in the grocery store--not only has the price gone up, but the box has gotten smaller. Those who justify BMW's pricing as consumers are simply a dream come true for marketers. They are somehow convinced that there are no alternatives, i.e. inelastic demand. It's pretty hard to imagine that to most people, 40k is not a lot for a car, because it is. His other post I believe said his X5 cost 77k. To me, that's a lot of money for something assembled in SC. And with respect to ED, not the condition as I'm not saying the OP has it, to the program in Europe, my wife's coworker got his car through diplomatic sales. That's cheaper still and you don't have to fly off somewhere and take time off from work. |

I think that things will change as well, given the price of the euro.
You might not see as sharp of an increase on the US price of a 335 vs the eurodollar price in the future. Sure $4k more is a lot for just 2 years, but in the future, I would expect as much of a % increase.

I think you all are missing my point. First off I think everyone is aware we are in a Global recession, meaning it’s not just limited to the US. Companies like GM and Ford are on the verge of going out of business. The German Government is injecting large sums of money to try and avoid German banks from going out of business, just like we are doing here in the US.
The Euro is down ~.25 basis points against the Dollar from last year, The Pound is down from its all time high of 2 dollars per Pound to 1.4 Dollars per Pound. And what is BMW doing, raising it’s pricing, removing standard equipment and making you purchase it as an option. Again the Euro is down against the Dollar meaning BMW is not taking as bad a hit from the Dollar, Euro conversion as it was last year. The Auto business is down ~30 % world wide and BMW is still raising its prices. Those of you who don’t buy into this are the reason that BMW can continue to raise its prices. If you don’t mind spending an extra 4k on you new 335i over what I paid that’s your business. I am hopeful that BMW doesn’t end up on a list similar to GM and Ford. Red

Do you not believe the numbers or the fact that BMW is one of the few car companies that are raising their prices in this economy? Red

I'm sorry, but the most clever thing about you is your user name.
I've got several counter points to your statements, but if I went and spent my time explaining them to you I would prolly get a reply saying thats what you meant to say. |

Here we go again with your naivete. As been discussed in various previous threads, BMW is rethinking its sales/marketing strategy in the US. Read more about it here:

I think you meant to say you're, which is a contraction for you are; because, as far as I know, I don't own anything called a "sure smart".
I'm sure you meant to do two posts, just like I meant to crap my pants that one time in band camp. Right... |

Its not that man, but seriously, what is one to do? If you want the car, you find a way to buy it. There isnt another car that I can afford that I prefer over a BMW, Ive owned 5 so far. Do I hate price increases sure, but its pay it or not have the car I really want. If someday BMW gets out of my price range, then I will sadly have to look at other alternatives.

Just buy used. let the 1st owner take on the price increase! Are you really not going to buy a BMW because of an 8% increase in MSRP?
It is a newer car with new features. This is normal with all car makers. Inflation rules! |
