... no dipstick, no LSD.
I am fed up with those constraints. BMW could make money on some of these items. What the hell were they thinking.... |

Yeah, that EPA wait was effing brutal. I love the car! So much so that I took a two month break from here just to go drive her around and enjoy myself. I'm just trying not to put too many miles on it, but I still find myself looking for all sorts of excuses to go for a drive.

Usually, there are plugs on the engine bottom (block), you remove it and install an electric element that makes your life more enjoyable when you start at -30/-40 deg like we facing now. Synth oil doesn't make up for it.
And for the hitch.... it is even available in Europe!!!! |

The block heater and remote start should definitely be options. I don't understand why they sell these cars in northern latitudes without these options, or at least ability to install aftermarket heater/starters. Unless you regularly see temperatures -25F and colder during the winter (it's been -30 to -40F all week up here), you can't appreciate how useful these items are.
I was going to attach a heating element to the oil pan last weekend, but I stopped when it became apparent the power cord on the element would be right next to the downpipes. I am worried the cord will melt during the summer. I couldn't find another flat surface on the oil pan to affix a heating element. Are there any fellow northerners who have successfully added a heater? Maybe some of the Swedes on this board can offer some advice. |
