battery life of remotes with comfort access
i just bought the car and it showed the battery was low so i put it in the ignition when i drove the car around. It was about an hour and a half, then within 3 days it says its low again. How often should i be charging it before its full and i don't have to charge it every 2 days. Can i get a new battery replaced by the dealer under warranty?

I bought my car with comfort access over 6 months ago. The last time I put my key in the ignition was 3 months ago. If you're car is used, then the battery might just be out of juice and definitely needs to be replaced. If your car is a few months out of the factory, then you probably have a defective key.
Dealing with the bmw dealer can be a pain, especially if the place is out of the way. If I were you I'd just buy a replacement battery from your local grocery/drug store and see if that works. |

just found out b/c i have comfort access our batteries aren't rechargeable. If you don't have comfort access then they recharge while inside the car.

FOB = Freight On Board; its a legal term (followed by a location, usually a port of entry) under the Uniform Commercial Code that shifts the risk of loss to the buyer from that point on.
But the "fob" everyone here is talking about isnt an acronym at all, its just your key...from Wikipedia: "A key fob is a generally decorative and at times useful item many people often carry with their keys, on a ring or a chain, for ease of tactile identification, to provide a better grip, or to make a personal statement. Key fobs are often called "key rings" or "key chains" in colloquial usage. The word fob may be linked to the low German dialect for the word Fuppe, meaning "pocket", however, the real origin of the word is unknown." |

I was told by the service advisor at BMW just to insert the fob in the ignition to recharge it, yet I have comfort access.
Are you sure the CA fob does not recharge? |

Believe what you want - the owner's manual which clearly states that vehicles with Comfort Access (CA) DO NOT have rechargeable batteries in the keys and explains how to change the battery in the CA keys or the ill informed service advisor.
