Question Is there a way around the annoying seat belt warning chime?

OK, so I hate wearing my seat belt. I always have. I just feel like someone is suffocating me or something. I know, I should for many reasons, but I don't.

Does anyone know if you can turn the chime off that alerts you to put your belt on?

Or, has anyone bought a separate part (the part that clips into the holder) and just clipped it in and left the regular seat belt to the side? Would this work?

I don't want to buckle the belt behind me because it will cause extra wear and tear on the seat.

Thanks!

as much as I believe in seatbelts, the best no-cost solution I have for you is just to pull the front right pax seatbelt clip and CLick it in your seat, Done!

^ What he said.

Personally i love the seat belt. I can do spirited driving without flying around in the seat.

Why risk being in couple of pieces in case of accident?
I know for sure I would like to stay in one piece stuck to the seat when it happens.

I was just about to post up some of the gory carnage that's hidden amongst the threads, but I'm glad to see that you have decided to just wear the seat belt. Here's a true story that happened to my family a few years ago:

My kid brother was caught in a really nasty accident several years back. He was exiting off the highway on a downward, banking right offramp when some mother f*cker in a maroon-colored Saturn squeezed passed his right on the shoulder, then cut back out onto the highway, clipping my brother's car in the process. My brother tried to correct the vehicle, but it oversteerer, hit the curb, and flipped the car onto the roof.

After the dust settled and some good Samaritans pulled over to help, my brother gathered himself and started to make his way out of the car. It was then he realized that his head was up against the collapsed roof of the car. His seat belt had locked and kept him strapped to the seat. That belt had just saved his life.

Suffice to say that without that seat belt on, my brother would not be here today, and E90post would be short one member, as I would have spent every penny of my resources to find and kill the f*cking driver of that Saturn and would currently be in jail for First Degree Murder.

I still thank the stars that besides some cuts, bruises, and some whiplash, he walked away from that crash with only minor injuries.

It sounds like you're a young driver, so you'll have time to adjust to it. It might feel a little weird having a belt around you, but you'll get used to it. As much as the old cliché is used, seat belts really do save lives, so buckle up and stay safe out there.

My '06 chimes 50 times and then stops. Yes that's right. 50. I picked up that info here a year or so ago (it's probably in one of the links BK provided) and tested it.

But typically, I just snap it on.

Not only is it illegal in every state to not wear a seatbelt, it's also extremely dangerous. i know you're young, so you had drivers ed rather recently ~3 years. you don't remember seeing pictures of what can happen if you don't wear it?? look at this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227555

the guy wore his seatbelt otherwise he probably wouldn't be alive right now. bmw's are safe, but nothing can defy laws of physics in accidents.

be glad you don't ride with me. no car i drive will move without everyone's seatbelt being on.

I think there are two different issues here:
1) I agree you ought to drive with the seat belt on.
2) I also hate this chime goes off in no time and just keeps going. I have no time to take of a coat (I know - shouldn't to that either), before it goes off. My wife can't unbuckle either and get someting of the back seats. Why can't it chime like 2-3 times and shut up for a minute, which is still sufficiently annoying to remember anyone?.What will the next generation E9X do? Roll down windows, switch on wipers, flash all lights, and limit speed to 5 mph as well?

Can I just say, I was driving today in a parking lot (with my seatbelt strangling me) and drove right by a guy in a gray coupe, and I waved at him out of camaraderie. He just looked at me from behind his sunglasses like he was just the COOLEST thing on the planet. I'm like, dude, you're in a 3-series, not a Bentley. What an ass......

Then again, maybe he thought you were just one of "those" girls that waved at everyone .........
