Is there a way around the annoying seat belt warning chime?
OK, so I hate wearing my seat belt. I always have. I just feel like someone is suffocating me or something. I know, I should for many reasons, but I don't.
Does anyone know if you can turn the chime off that alerts you to put your belt on? Or, has anyone bought a separate part (the part that clips into the holder) and just clipped it in and left the regular seat belt to the side? Would this work? I don't want to buckle the belt behind me because it will cause extra wear and tear on the seat. Thanks!

as much as I believe in seatbelts, the best no-cost solution I have for you is just to pull the front right pax seatbelt clip and CLick it in your seat, Done!

^ What he said.
Personally i love the seat belt. I can do spirited driving without flying around in the seat.

Why risk being in couple of pieces in case of accident?
I know for sure I would like to stay in one piece stuck to the seat when it happens. |

It sounds like you're a young driver, so you'll have time to adjust to it. It might feel a little weird having a belt around you, but you'll get used to it. As much as the old cliché is used, seat belts really do save lives, so buckle up and stay safe out there.

My '06 chimes 50 times and then stops. Yes that's right. 50. I picked up that info here a year or so ago (it's probably in one of the links BK provided) and tested it.
But typically, I just snap it on.

the guy wore his seatbelt otherwise he probably wouldn't be alive right now. bmw's are safe, but nothing can defy laws of physics in accidents. be glad you don't ride with me. no car i drive will move without everyone's seatbelt being on.

I think there are two different issues here:
1) I agree you ought to drive with the seat belt on. 2) I also hate this chime goes off in no time and just keeps going. I have no time to take of a coat (I know - shouldn't to that either), before it goes off. My wife can't unbuckle either and get someting of the back seats. Why can't it chime like 2-3 times and shut up for a minute, which is still sufficiently annoying to remember anyone?.What will the next generation E9X do? Roll down windows, switch on wipers, flash all lights, and limit speed to 5 mph as well? |

Can I just say, I was driving today in a parking lot (with my seatbelt strangling me) and drove right by a guy in a gray coupe, and I waved at him out of camaraderie. He just looked at me from behind his sunglasses like he was just the COOLEST thing on the planet. I'm like, dude, you're in a 3-series, not a Bentley. What an ass......
