DIY M shifter and M brake handle

I found information about this here and there but not all together.
A very easy mod but here are some pics of the process.

The M-shifter comes with the boot.
The factory shifter can be removed by itself and the boot has
4 snap points that attach the boot to the center console.

Part numbers and price I got from Tischer BMW in MD
(with BMW CCA discount)
M-Shifter 25-11-8-036-628 $100.00
M-brake handle 34 40 8 036 495 $24.00

Here is the M-shifter.

This is the Brake handle. No screws. It just snaps on.

This is the before pic.

First, pull the boot on each corner to remove it from the center console.
Then, just pull the shifter.

The brake handle boot is hold to the brake handle by a cable tie.
lift the brake handle boot from both ends and it will come off easily.
Next, cut the original cable tie.

Next, with the parking brake on, pull the handle.

You end up with this...

To install the shifter, just push it into place.
To install the boot for the shifter, just push down on each corner and it snaps into place.

Next, insert the brake handle and push it in. it kind of snaps into place.
Pull the brake handle boot inside out and install a new cable tie.

You are done.

hi,

i´m also interested in changing the shifter to the M-model.
Can you tell me if it is really shorter or does it just look like shorter?

It feels a lot different than the stock shifter.
It is a little shorter.
the shifter feels perfect in your hand.
I'd say it feels ergonomically correct!

This was way too easy compared to the one he did.
Next will be the LUX rings DIY. But that will be a group effort.

Don't forget that with the eBrake handle boot, you need to invert it, then use a non-resuable plastic tie strap on the inside (wraps around metal handle).

Does that mean you need to remove the eBrake handle boot?

Another blacklines convert. Morristown/Hunterdon sure is feeding the e90post blacklines epidemic

I'm sold on the brake handle mod as well...

Werd! I'm sooooooo sold on the E90. I never thought I'd be this excited to get rid of my current M3 (..which I love with all of my heart), but a change in expenditures is needed, and I'm becoming more in love w/ the idea of a modded E90 330i the more that I research this forum.

Soon to come:

Mystic E90
Nav
Sport PKG
6-speed
Rear/side sunshades

Which steering wheel will fit on the E90? I absolutely love the wheel in the new Z4 ///M coupe/vert.

Also, in which BMW does the ///M shifter/e-brake handle appear in? It doesn't look like any of the ///M stuff in the current cars.

the brake button is part of the brake handle assembly.
the M handle just fits into the brake. see the pics above.
You don't mess with the button.

Now, how come you have a chrome one?
