335i vs Shelby
It was like 70 degs on Sat - I was cruising peacefully with the top down. This Shelby came up to me and the driver tried hard to burn me. Unfortunately for him, the traffic was heavy and he got stuck behind.
Came back and took a look at the specs: 500 hp v8 MSRP: 48k http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/models/ It is cheaper than the 335i. remind me again on why we prefer the 335i?

Ever try driving with the Ford's live axle at speed and hope to make it home alive?

Because there is more to driving than straight lines, and 60% weight on the front axle (a guess) doesn't cooperate like 51%.
My first car was a '66 289 with pony interior, and my second was an '89 LX 5.0. Paid ~$11,000 for it and had it for 11 years. Had to replace the alternator at about 8 years, but no other major repairs. Even had the same clutch when I sold it. A lot of car for the money. |

1st off the 335i xi is a great piece of machinery between the handling the ride comfort the qaulity of the build the smoothness of the shifts it's an all around great car
your not only buying a fast car your buying handling, qaulity etc. with the shelby your buying a big ass engine connected to a sheetmetal and plastic dont get me wrong i love mustang's always will but the shelby has the v6 mustang's suspension plastic every where you look and a live axle ,your paying for the a great engine and cheap plastic |

The Shelby is a decent car if all you want to do is go fast in a straight line and impress your buddies with the Shelby name. The 335i is a PERENIAL C&D 10 best cars because it does a lot of things very well. Including going fast in a straight line, going fast around the track, great braking, decent fuel economy, general ergonomics, overall driving experience, refinement and luxury. It is a total package, not a one trick pony. It is the Benchmark to which all car in its class and many cars not in the class are compared to. BTW, the Shelby could easily have been improved, but Ford decide to eliminate the independent rear suspension that had previously been installed on the Cobras. It would have cost $5K more. I believe most owners would have paid the $5k if given the choice.

Comon with $ 1500 a gt500 would handle pretty well around a track and with another $1000. It will beat any M3 OR 335I . It looks plain mean. Just my .02
Watch this and tell me its not exciting |

I hope you're not serious... ANY 335i? ANY M3? I don't think so, not even close, put 5K into the Stang and 5k into the 335i, see which car out performs the other.. The Shelby is a great car IMO, the exhaust note on that is amazing, but the 335i just has more potential... way more

ARE YOU crazy 3k on a shelby and you can replace stock blower with a whipple frpp blower, then another 2k u get intake tune exhaust gears. No comparison buddy. Think about it fastest 335i runs high 11's. About 410 whp. With intercooler $1100, exhaust $1000, tune $850, intake $150, lsd 1500, downpipes $800. S@h 500 Total cost=5000 You can easily just put a set of drag radials on a stock gt500 with a tune and intake and see mid to high 11's. SO yes im serious , gt500 is noT a car that requires much to go fast.
