noise from under when shift from 1st to 2nd

hi guys,

I have 06 330i Manual, whenever i shift from 1st to 2nd gear or just popping out from 1st to neutral i hear a sound from under. it sounds like engine or tranny about to drop out of my car.

Normally before i shift to any gear i release the gas peddle first then engage the clutch, and it works fine, except for 1st to 2nd i hear the noise. but if i maintain and keep the gas steady and engage the clutch to shift from 1st to 2nd the noise goes away.

Do you guys experience this as well? is this anything i need to worry about?

thanks

The 1-2 gear change is finicky on all BMWs, but it shouldn't sound "like engine or tranny about to drop out of my car." What is typical is for 2nd gear to grind a bit when you shift under HARD acceleration, or for 2nd gear to be difficult to engage smoothly even under not-so-hard acceleration. What you are describing sounds unusual. I'd ask the dealer.
