Is my car overheating?
I have a 335, and the engine oil temperature on the gauge cluster is passed the middle, probably by a little less than a quarter of an inch, so roughly 240 degrees fahrenheit. For all you other 335 owners, does your car usually run at this temperature?
Thanks, |

Thanks homie...
This is actually my first Turbo car and my first BMW. So I wasn't sure what the temperature should be. I've driven N/A cars my whole life. My last car was an 06 Lexus GS, and the temperature never passed the middle mark. |

do you have a lot of hills or stop and go traffic? the only time mine gets to 250 is if i am in low gears for a long time. if you are just driving on a regular highway in high gears and it is actually passed 250 you may have a problem.

Mine stays around 220 when driving very easy.
It gets around 240 when I start to speed it up a bit. When I am really on it and pushing it hard, it almost gets to 250. When it gets to exactly 250, I stop pushing it, but this has only happened once.

in the winter, my car usually gets to 220-230..... in the summer, 240 all the tme, and sometimes slightly over if i push it for a while..... also, note that most temp gauges on other cars are thermostats, whereas on your bmw it's an oil temp gauge, which is different..... |

Good stuff guys... I just drove it for about 50 straight miles and it stayed around 220ish on the highway, in about 30 degree weather and around 230ish on local driving.

The change in the oil temp gage (to 250 in the center) occurred with March 2007 production.
