2009 GTA Trackdays
I have been approached to organize some BMW only track days in the GTA for next summer. This would probally at the Mosport DDT or Grand Prix tracks or maybe even Shannonville. There would be some classroom and on track instruction for the newbies or anybody that would want it.How many on this board would be interested if we do decide to go ahead with this?

I did Mosport last year, it was mostly with Porsches, my two friends brought their 911 Turbos, and there was 2-3 more Turbos, a couple GT3 and a few Cayman/Boxster. A Mini Cooper and even a vette or two. Was tons of fun...I would do it again. We had the class in the beginning for about 30 minutes...and then all the new guys had an instructor with them during the 20 minutes sessions! By the end of the day, I lost my instructor, I picked up on the lines of the track quick and they noticed this and said it was okay for me to go alone now!
Its very simple, they put Pylons down at the point in which you stop braking and begin maintaining your speed at the beginning of the turn, another pylon at the Apex of the turn...and then 1 more at the end of the turn where you should be exiting and beginning to come on the throttle hard. Its tons of fun.... (btw, I hope helmets wont be required---it wasn't required for my previous track day. I think it would be pretty hard and annoying to drive with a full face helmet on) Heres an Image, the orange dots are where the pylons would be...for those who haven't been and are interested!

Well at least there does appear to be a lot of interest which is great.I will be having a meeting this week to to get some more info.I am sure that anything that we will put together will be price competive, very safe without too many run groups to maximize the track time available to everybody.I will keep you informed.

Probally met you at some days as I have done some Pro6 & Golo days.I doubt I will be doing any bike track days this year as I will be helping to organize some 4 wheel trackdays and It is starting to look like I might have an oportunity to go pro racing in a cage once again if my sponsorship money shows up. |
