Is my car "hurt"?
I asked my buddy to get some food for us while we were detailing cars. As I was cleaning his car he kind of fumbled inside the car for a while and got it started and took off. He came back a short time later and turned off the car. He got out and asked me why all the electronics were still on.
I got in the car and tried to stick the key back in the ignition. It would not go all the way in. Apparently he yanked the key out instead of pressing it in allowing it to disengage. I got in fumbled with it for a bit and got a little worried. Long story short I jammed the fob all the way in and it allowed me to disengage the key and everything was okay. Guess my question is did it hurt anything?

Hmmmm interesting question...I think if its okay now then everything is fine, but if you want you could bring it in to the dealer and ask if they could confirm...

u're fine... same thing happened to me with my gf... she pulled the key fob right out when turning off the car. then when i got back in i had to jam the fob into the slot so that the key would engage... it worked well for months after that (until i sold my car.) this happened on my previous e90 328

You have to put the fob in somewhere to start the car? My stars, that's, like, so lame - I'll bet you even have to take it out of your pocket. Check the calendar and the round thing on the hood. If it's 2209 and your circle is blue and white, you need to catch up, dearie. Good luck.

Totally! Friends don't let friends play with their toys without proper training. Mine still surprises me on occasion.
