Rear fog lights in heavy snow?
Today was so snowy on the way to work, it was almost white out. I decided to turn on my rear fog lights for the first time. Amazingly, people stayed well back (usually have at least a few dickheads tailgating in their SUVs just before they try to pass and slide off the road). Has anyone else found this helpful during the snow?

Haven't had the car in snow, but it helps in dense fog, especially between northern and southern california

It's not as if the rear fog light is THAT bright but good that it worked for you.

Yeah, they're bright enough that I tend to stay back from (or pass) the idiot Audi and MB drivers who drive with them turned on ALL THE TIME.

The rear foglight is the same wattage as the brake lights.

Don't forget the BMW drivers that think it's "cool" to drive with them on, too.

Don't know why anyone would drive with them on all the time (or the front fogs for that matter). Funny, every audi I've seen with them on only has one light on (I have assumed they were short circuited!)
Anyway, the rears shine through the backup lens, so despite being low wattage, they are bright indeed, especially at driver level. |

I never abuse the rear fogs unless its a heavy storm with almost no visibility. I was driving one night (light snow) and the audi in front of me had rear fogs....I was so annoy by it I had to drive in front fo him and turned on my rear fogs for 10 seconds....message delivered so if you dont like ppl doing it to you...you shouldn't abuse the fogs |

Rear fogs are a portion of the tail light that you can turn on that is the same intensity as if you had the brakes applied. It is a brighter portion that will allow people following you to see you better in bad weather with low visibility. Ill see if I can find a pictures.
You need a Euro spec headlight switch to enable them (which I finally got :-) ) or you need to do the Lego mod (I think thats what it is called) Edit: ^^^He beat me to the picture.
