iPod Integration: a way to plug in iPod but do not use BMW center control?
I have a non-iDrive car and I have 6FL iPod integration option with Logic 7.
Now, I have read up to a few pages in the "search", but still did not find my answer. So, I am asking, if there is a way to plug in my iPod and still use my iPod to NAVIGATE the songs/playlists/etc, instead of using the center console controls (which is pain in azz to use). I did see that some people use iPod as a HD ? (which I didnt know you can do) and still control from the center console? I know that I can just use audio jack and not plug in and then I can control with my iPod, but battery runs out rather quickly.. So, is there some sort of software that I could update? PS. I also have quite a few foreign language songs (Japanese, Chinese) with Japanese/Chinese characters... Is there also a way to update the language software with non-idrive car to display the correct characters? Thanks

You need the SiK Imp!
http://www.amazon.com/SiK-iPod-charg.../dp/B0006ZNC9K Uses the line-out, and charges. Nice product! |

thanks.
Thats my last resort. (AUX + car charger) But that just looks plain stupid by having so many cables there and have the iPod integration... I just want to use the USB to charge and then just continue to use my iPod wheel to select my music!!

lol
something is really funny.. ok.. here it goes.. My iPod (about 2 - 2.5 years old) 5th Gen 30G. The connector on my iPod is broken that for some reason, no device can recognize my iPod.. (i.e. if I put my iPod on a dock, the dock wont recognize, or any other device).. So.. when I plug in my iPod into my E92, the same thing happens.. my e92 does not recognize my iPod.. but it still charges my iPod. So, all I have to do is use the AUX cable and still plug in the USB and voila, I can listen to my iPod while using the iPod wheel controls, which is exactly what I want. No external power cord, etc etc.. just 1 ecxtra short male-male AUX cable! Love it! EDIT: I just tried it with my "good, working" iPod, and the car recognize it immediately and I can only use the stereo control and not the iPod wheel.. Oh well, it works out to have a broken connector iPod after all.

Get either an "A/V" cable with USB (eg http://www.uxsight.com/product/4653/...pod-video.html) and use an RCA-3.5mm adapter, or get one of the half-dozen car chargers with a line-out port and use a 6" 3.5mm jumper to connect to the aux in. |
