Bluetooth phone without BMW Assist Service
Hi,
Our 2006 325xi was ordered with BMW Assist and one year of service. We discontinued service after the first year as we did not use it at all. I recently bought my wife a Motorola W376(Razr like) bluetooth phone and am interested pairing it to the 325xi. Do you need to subscribe to BMW Assist for phone service to work? Since the W376 phone is thru Tracfone, will it pair with the BMW? Thanks Wallyf |

Does Tracfone work with BMW Bluetooth?
Technic,
Do you know if the W376 will work with the BMW since it uses Tracfone service? Thanks Wallyf |

+1. Your bluetooth system is not reliant on your subscription to BMW Assist.

Pairing of a Motorola W376g to BMW did not work
I finally tried to pair the Motorola W376g to my 2006 325xi. Neither the car nor the phone recognized the other.
Does anyone know if this phone is compatible with the BMW? Thanks wallyf |

It doesn't need to be "compatible with BMW". It only needs to be compatible with BT standard spec, as far as the basic functionality is concerned. The "compatible with BMW" issue comes into play when you need to do something more advanced, like download your phonebook from the phone to the car etc.
Just to pair your phone with your car you don't need to concern yourself with "compatible with BMW" matters. If your car has BT, it should pair with your phone, unless there are some serious bugs in your car's (or your phone's) BT spec implementation |
