Question About Brake dust

I looked around and I didnt see a thread dealing with brake dust, so I have a few questions.

Firstly, I noticed that there is an insane amount after driving for just a little bit, and im assuming this is normal.

Is there any way I can change this, i.e different brakes.

Im also wondering if ceramic brakes would get rid of this problem.

Any help would be appreciated, and if this has been dealt with already I apologize.

I decided to put 2 coats of wheel wax on my wheels after my last handwash. It took me about 45min. Well I put 140mii on the car today with some mixed stop and go, high speed driving and a few times where I purposely braked from cruising speeds 50mph to 0 in neutral.

The results are far less brake dust than before. Tomorrow I plan to handwash the car again, but this time, may just hose off the wheels / maybe use a light sponge with car soap instead of wheel cleaner.

Didn't work for me either.

I know M3 owners are changing their stock pads for PBR pads and claim better braking with MUCH less dust.

I had HAWKs on my Subaru and they were significanlty better than the stock pads and had very little dust.

Just because you don't notice it - doesn't mean it is not there. It is horrible stuff to leave on the wheel. After awhile it bakes on and is hard to get off. It leaves your weels looking dull and boring.

Use any type of good wax, and hose them off whenever you can. I also use Simoniz Spray on wheel cleaner.

I use Zaino too. I purchased Wheel Wax for the wheels.
http://www.wheelwax.com/

It really works and is cheaper than replacing brake pads.

Zaino or wheel wax won't stop the dust, however it will make the wheels much easier to clean as the dust won't stick to the wheel. A light rinse with some Simoniz spray on wheel cleaner and a rinse with the hose and for the most part you are done.

You will also see alot less brake dust on your wheels and it they will look cleaner for many more miles before the dust starts to stain them again.

I know this from personal experience yesterday.
