Let's install Riss Racing Stage 2 Intake

Hey guys I finally got my RR Stage 2 Intake and installed it this morning. I can now hear the turbos spooling when I'm driving, sounds great! Some down sides, first the mounting bracket for the power steering doesn't fit very well you have to loosen the OEM hardware and move it to the very bottom of the PS reservoir and even then it doesn't fit that well. Second, the filter is very tough to get in and has to be at an angle vs flat (not too big of a deal). With the scoops screwing these bad boys in is a task in itself, I thought they would fit better, but oh well they are in. You really have to force the screws to go intot he holes. Also, I had to dremel the OEM plastic scoops to fit over the tabs to finish the install. This part was nowhere in the instructions. Overall I'm happy with the way it turned out, nothing broke and had to make some minor on the fly modifications.

Did the same install yesterday as well. I was very impressed with the quality of the intake. I also thought the instructions were very well laid out online. Piece of cake.

I haven't really noticed any yet, but when I get the JB3 I'm going to do a before and after dyno. That should be in late Dec or early Jan. Thanks!

I agree the instructions were laid out well, I'm still not convinced that the 08's and 09 are the same. Some of the fitment for certain things just didn't seem quite right. For example the Power Steering "ball" fits ok, but the Intake Filter is sitting on it and the plastic black hose that connects to the stock DV is bent in a really weird way. I tried rerouting but no luck. Oh well until I have a problem with it, I'll say it went well.

Since the OEM intake components don't line up at all with the RR intake, what good will the scoops do? The air is just getting blown into the engine bay BEHIND the cone air filter.

I'm working on this. I have a design into a guy where I will cut off the tube and plastic solder the new one in to direct the air directly to the cone. I'll keep everyone posted.

Went alright, had some fit issues but it worked out in the end with no modification needed.

I just did this install last night along with th DDV valves and hard pipe. Let's just say I was "underwhelmed" with the design of all the components.

www.rissracing.com or send Anthony@rissracing a PM and he'll hook you up. Stage 2 is the CAI and the scoops. You might have to order them seperately.

I've got the CAI on and the scoops, but confused about the ring they sent with the DV's. Does this support the DV's from the intake or what...:iono:

Ring? You mean the black powder coated black ring with a slot on one end, and a bolt on the other? That's used to replace the stock ring that goes around your power steering fluid resevoir.

No, that mounting bracket will work for stage 2 and 3.

the scoops are useless in this setup .... now if you can flip the plastic inlet that direct the air into the stock airbox .... then it would send the air directly into the filter of the Short ram intake .... i don't really consider this a CAI since it does not fit into a fender of location where the cold air is coming in from the outside .....

I agree with this. Unless you have a box around it, I personally don't consider it a true CAI.

Instead of ghetto-rigging the existing OEM snorkel, can you just remove it entirely? You can leave the scoops on, as they'll at least direct air into the engine compartment, but the existing OEM snorkel setup isn't that helpful right now.
