Sway Bar Combinations

Tell us about your suggestions for sway bar combinations... Front only, rear only, or both? ... And your reasoning behind the decision. I know the topic is always brought up, but I feel as if this is needed.

I have read some posts that say they can only tell a difference in the rear, and the front is so minute they wouldnt even recommend changing it.

In my experience, for non-adjustable setups on OE springs, the best results are obtained by using the same manufacturer's bars front and rear--they are designed to work together. In general, the same goes for adjustable bars but there is more leeway. All of the above is greatly effected by changing from OE springs to stiffer sets. Big increases in spring rates require less sway bar stiffness for most applications.

Personally, I'm waiting for some adjustable setups to hit the market. I've had UUC Swaybarbarians in past BMWs and loved being able to dial them in to work better with whatever tire/damper combo I've chosen.

Who knows when we'll have an adjustable option though...

Hotchkiss is rumored to be working on a set of adjustables, and I bet UUC is also.

It should be fairly easy to make it up for the E82, since it should be the exact same bends, just with a shorter straight piece in the middle of each bar (for the slightly narrower car). We share most of the same suspension pieces as the e9x cars

I was just researching this topic, I see by the dimensions our front track is 14mm (0.55") less than e92s - seems to me there would be enough slop in the foot long end links to bolt an e92 bar right up.......

I am really liking the Hotchkiss idea at 32mm.......

e82 / e92 same sway!!!!!

Hey----Not sure if this revelation means anything but in realoem.com I just looked up the front sway bar on an e87 130i and compared it to an e92 128i........guess what! the part numbers are identical.:w00t:

I sent an email to Hotchkiss.
