Tinting Question

Hi,

I just want to check something on tinting. If you tint your car lets say with a 35% would it be very dark on the inside looking out?

I have never done tinting on any of my cars.

thanks

35% isn't to dark looking out, people can usually see in also. I have 25% on my black car, and it looks amazing. You can see out just fine, but it's hard to see in.

Thanks for the reply.

so basically there is a shade difference from the inside compared to non-tinted windows ? I think our legal limit here is about 30%

I just dont want it to be too dark and then you struggle to see out

Please forgive me for the seemingly sensless questions, but is there such a thing as reflective tint vs non reflective tint? Also, I'm assuming that as the percentage of tint goes up, the visual tint goes down (25% would be darker than 45%)? Thank you all in advance!!!!:headbang:

I am not sure about your first question man, but as the second one goes, yeah as the % goes down it gets darker.

Look two posts up. My 135i JB Vert has 35% Ceramic. I like it. Definitely looks tinted, but not gaudy and ceramic keeps a TON of the Houston heat out.

I think Alex is looking for pics of tinted coupes (non convertible).

My car has been tinted 35% in the front and 25% in the rear.

See link: http://picasaweb.google.com/pauljim/2008BMW135i

They are ceramic tints.

It is best to go to a tint place and look at cars with different tint installed. If you have a dark interior, 35% will look dark from the outside, 15% will look pitch black. If you have a light colored interior, then it will not look as dark from the outside. Pics don't give an accurate perception since different angles can give very different results. I've seen pics of 35% that look like limo tint just because of the angle and suns reflection. When you do go to a tint shop to look at the various grades of shading, make sure you look at it on a vehicle. Most shops will have a display of what they look like, but without a background on the window it doesn't provide a true representation of it on a car; limo tint can look lighter than a pair of sunglasses.

Since nobody has answered you first question yet I will.

Yes, there is both reflective and non-reflective tint. I have a Silverstone S2000 and I did reflective tint on it. Reflective tint keeps more light out then non-reflective so it protects your dash and interior a little better with out going really dark.

A 35% non-reflective tint is going to look much lighter then a 35% reflective tint. The bad thing about reflective tint is that it looks like a mirror when it gets any darker then 35%.

I had 35% on my S2000 and it matched the silver really well.

One awesome way to use reflective tint is for your windshield. If you put a 50% reflective on the windsield it will help with sun glare and glare from headlights at night a bunch. It is of course illegal in most states to put any amount of tint on the windshield though.

Sorry for the long post but you asked:wink:

That just doesn't sound possible on a convertible!

35% F1 Pinnacle

Since I have a light interior and it's in direct sun at a low angle this is as light as it will ever look. It's slightly darker when the sun is higher and noticeably darker on a cloudy day

Damn Texas, that last picture makes the whole "top down, windows up look" tolerable. Very Nice!
