Looks great! Was the gunmetal powder coat color metallic, satin, or gloss?

I live in Lake Stevens, where did you get it done and how long did it take? Did they also dismount and remount the tires and TPMS?

No they don't dismount, They are going to need about a week, because of the sand blasting. you need to handle all of the dismounting on your own IE les schwab. Its kinda tricky to get all 4 rims off the rid if you don't have 4 jacks. I only have 2 jacks and it took me a while to figure out to get my frame into the air safely without bending my frame. I removed all four wheels and placed my car on jack lifts and jack stands. My poor car was suspended in air without wheels for 1 weeks. Depending on how busy the company is it takes about 1 week to complete the job. Once i pulled my rims I went to les schwab for the dismount . Once i had the metal I took them to the place here is the link http://www.powdercoatinginc.com/ in mukilteo called craigs craft powder coating inc. They are good, real good. Shot the rims and baked them took them back to les schwab same day for the remount of rubber. Entire project took 7 days. Im really happy with how the car looks now. I hate that OEM rim color. Its really ugly IMO

So..... I hear so many different thoughts on this: Does powdercoating reduce the integrity of the wheel itself?

I dont know how gun metal rims would look with blue colored car. I think you should be really really picky about the color you choose. They have samples so choose carefully its a pain in the ass process.

Powder coating is safe. The Stock OEM rims are powder coated believe it or not. just as long you have a veteran coater and a veteran sandblaster you should be good to go. Make sure what ever company you go threw has samples of their work and be careful because rims are expensive.

Yes, powdercoating wheels does weaken them. In most cases its not a big deal. But I've seen more than a few horror stories of people breaking there wheels on the track because of powdercoating.

Its simple, how many wheel manufacturers do you see powdercoat their wheels from the factory? I can't think of one.

Its a little more expensive to have your wheels professionally painted but it is definitely better for the wheel!

the logical sense is that powder coating requires baking the wheels at about 200C (390F) which will fatigue the metal. i don't really know how much, i'm no materials engineer, but i would imagine if done more than once, could cause significant damage to the wheels, especially if the people that are doing the coating set the temp too high or leave the wheels in too long, which is an obvious possibility. i wouldn't expect there to be much damage done by 10 mins at 200C, but there are some resources available to find more information about metal fatigue at certain temps if you really want to know.

Looks very good, but why didn't you just match the BSM?

stocks aren't PC'd...trust me i do this for a living...PC is very tough...600 grit while wet sanding will take off stock finish...PC will not be affected...
