Surprised an older guy in a SL600
Driving home from work today I was stopped next to a 2002 MB SL600. It was an older guy, 50 -60 yrs old, and was very snobby looking. Light goes green I hesitate because I didn't want to seem like a dufus taking off on the light, BUT he did so I figured what the hell.....it was a straight away, no cars and nothing but road. He pulled on me with about a car length before I stomped on it. I went through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th start to catch up and then he looks in his rear view mirror thinking he blew by only to see no one there. He looks to his right and was shocked to see me right beside him with only a couple of feet before I am head to head. He let's off the gas and so do I to give a wave but the guy would not look over. SO I laughed and pulled away waving bye-bye. :respekt:
I do not agree with street racing so I will say this to everyone..... "Bad Driftdriven! Bad Driftdriven!" Anyways, I love this car and love shocking people of what this "tiny" car can do! |

ALSO he does have a 6.0L V12 with way more power but not as light or as nimble as the 1! It was fun and street racing is BAD!!! |

That doesn't read like a flyby to me. I thought flybys are when the loser keeps racing after you have beaten them. :iono: He let off when the merc did. Anyways, to OP since there was open road and no traffic. |

Good story brother. You were smart letting the old man take off first then catching up. Good funny story. Lots of fun doing that I bet. I know my Civic Si is no race car (0-60 6.3 sec) but I really make alot of people wonder WTF, its a Civic, even though the only badge on my black sleeper is Si.

Great story, I don't know if I'm really surprised you kept up with a Sl600 though....I mean honestly we aren't that far off the M3's last gen and new gen.
With that said, I love it when people in expensive cars think too highly of themselves and can't pull away! LOL I remember a guy in a M3coupe trying to take me on, on my bike. What a joker..... oh and there was the time an ITR (ya not an expensive car, I know) try to race my bike too...hahahaha..a lot of ignorant people out there. |

I do remember seeing a vid a while back of a turbo e36 m3 beating a bike...don't remember what kind of bike though. I'll rev on a bike knowing full well I have no chance...it's still fun to me!

Not really surprised? I have seen (with my own eyes) an SL600, unmodified, at the track run mid to low 12's all night long. I have yet to see a 135 time slip that shows those kind of times...
