Active Autowerke Technical Update: Upgraded Frount Mount Intercooler Installed

Hello Board,

I'm here to let you all know that the upgraded Front Mount Intercooler install has been completed on our test car. Many of you had asked whether our existing N54 intercooler design would work on the 135i, and I'm here to let you know that it does.

Here are some pictures of the completed installation:

Here is a picture of the installation before the bumper went back on:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

There have been some issues with the website today. If for some reason the ActiveAutowerke.com domain isn't working you can always try AATuning.com

I'm pretty astonished it fit in there. How much did you have to modify the FMIC and/or the car? Looks great though!

No modification to the intercooler at all. The only thing is that we were not able to make the shroud fit.

Kirk I think he means the shroud. We were not able to make the 335i shroud fit but they may have a modified shroud for the 135i in the near future.

minor point perhaps, but i really wish the intercooler was less visible through the front. can it be somewhow painted or does that defeat the purpose?!

thermal conductive paint (i.e radiator paint) would be fine.

thanks. just out of curiosity, how much more does this weigh than stock? this is right up there at the nose, and, as it is, the front has a 'slight' weight bias. (52/48 or something like that).
