Premium or Standard Audio?

Now that we're having several folks taking delivery, is there a consensus on the premium versus standard stereo?

All 1 series have subs under the seats! All have 10 speakers.

Did the premium audio come with 2 extra subs or just replacing 2 regular speakers with the subs?

From the picture, it looks like they just replaced the stock subs with a bigger subs and adding a 300 watt multi-channels DSP amplifier in the trunk.

we are getting to the point where there are too many threads on this issue. Can we just add to the already existing ones as not to clutter things up?

Damn. Johnny-Come-Lately is on thread patrol.

I wondered what the subs looked like under the seat. I didn't catch that thread the first time around. Nice.

I got the standard, and its definately not bad.

But I plan on investing my money in BSW's upcoming audio system for the 1, so yeah.

For sure premium! I ordered mine without any hesitation (135i white, sport pack, usb, etc.). I'm not an expert on the new ones coming out but my experience with the old ones didn't convinced me to go "standard". Ex: Look at what does MB and compare it to BM in their offerings (standard), Honestly, I have to say, even if I hate it, MB has an advantage on that turf.

I got premium too, I play music and am an audiophile...
aren't the subs extra, under the seats, and not a replacement for speakers that are otherwise still there?

This may sound like a dumb question, but what is BSW? I keep hearing people say they are waiting for BSW's audio system and am curious what this is.

I was wondering the same thing. Turns out it's a company that, among other things, makes plug-and-play upgrades to BMW sound systems.

Hmm. How much do these BSW upgrades typically cost and how much are they to install if anybody knows? Also, do we know when they will come out for the 1?

I heard the standard system yesterday, it was very standard sounding. More accurate than a system in say, a civic, but not what i was looking for.

I listened to the same song on the same radio station in a car with the premium audio and then one with the standard, and I didn't really hear much difference. I thought both sounded a lot better than the Harmon/Kardon in my M3, which is the weakest "premium" audio system I have ever heard.

I was thinking that I would need the premium sound but now I think the standard will be sufficient for me. I'm still on the fence about this option as well as heated seats and comfort access.
