car ramps....reinvented
my search for car ramps led me to seek other options due to failures of ramps that are horrific - here's one from an online search:
"Just don't! I know a lot of folks seem to have good luck with these, but after my experience I'd call it luck lol. Not my first rodeo. Not user error, just poor construction. Lined up properly, not over limit, no sudden acceleration or breaking... as soon as I crested the top of the ramp both ramps, not just one, shattered. I wouldn't trust my life to these ever again. This was first use of this set. Invest in a better means of lifting your vehicle. A simple flaw could squash you." i began a search and found the following (link below); it looked so reasonable that i built my own; total cost was $60; the risks are zero; stacked 2 x 8's on top of each other and screwed together WILL NOT COLLAPSE; i chose to bevel (45 degree) cut the first ramp the tire touches to ease the car onto the ramp; the incredibly inventive design of once the car is on the top ramp, the lower section can be swung out of the way to allow access: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...Mp_IBvlbo,st:0 |

I have the plastic ramps and I cut a yoga mat and put a piece under each ramp to keep the from sliding. A neighbor borrowed them and lost the dumb designed rubber chock. they're so much better than the heavy stuck to together metal ramps I grew up with. My other cars that you can't jack up with subframes and diff are far more annoying to get in the air using jacks and stands.
