Smile BMW differential

Hi guys. I am new to this forum. I purchased a BMW 116i about 6 months ago and i am pretty pleased with it. I have a query regarding the car's differential and i haven't been able to get it answered as i don't find any info on the web when it comes to a thorough technical breakdown. So, here it is: Is the rear differential an open one with traction characteristics being solely regulated by the DSC system? Or is it a limited slip, locking or torsen one? It's probably not a locking one because i remember getting some wheel spin and maintaining it even though the DSC light was flashing on the dash letting me know it had kicked in. Oh well, please tell me what you think.

Thanks
