135i brakes?

Anyone seen any info on how big the brakes are going to be? I've seen multiple references to 6 piston and 2 piston calipers front and rear, but I haven't seen info on disk diameter. I'm hoping it's the massive 14.2 and 13.8 in. rotors out of the new M3. Those should easily fit under the 18" wheels and provide some serious "OMFG!!!" stopping power.

Fronts - 6 Piston - 338mm x 26mm = 13.31 inches
Rears - 2 Piston - 324mm x 22mm = 12.75 inches

Remember, the M3 has a lot more weight to stop...

Trust me on this one. A stock 328i has OMFG stopping power. I would be more than happy with those!!

But someone on here did say that they were made by Brembo.

Hrmmm... I guess that'll do. They just look so much bigger in the pictures. BTW... where did you get this info? I looked through the brochure and couldn't find it.

For the first few braking applications. They fade terribly on a track after repeated laps...

A set of upgraded brake lines can usually take care of that.

For track use, swapping out the pads & fluid for more suitable stuff goes a long way, too.

Heh-heh, but hopefully the 17" winters I have for my current E46 will fit over the brakes -- assuming correct offset & bolt pattern of course.

I'd be very surprised if bolt pattern is an issue. Offset should be OK, too, but that's what you need to watch out for. Clearing the brakes with 17" wheels? Dunno, but it should be OK, too.

I'm also hoping that 17" wheel will fit over the fronts

Actually a set of upgraded brake lines will do absolutely nothing for brake fade unless perhaps you pay for them with pennies that were storing in the trunk.

If anyone is interested I found this on the new ETK this month. Also the previously listed rotors sizes match whats listed in the ETK.

Nice - anybody have any info on if those brake pad patterns are already existing patterns. The fronts look like they could be some kind of currently existing Brembo pattern. Not sure about the rears - what are those things attached to the top of the pads?

That would be great if racing pads already exist that will fit on the 1 series.

I'm on the verge of ordering custom 17"ers, I think I might have to wait until the LA auto show, so I can take some measurements myself!

Yeah. Braided lines are just gonna provide consistent feel in the pedal typically. Fade you're gonna cure with a more serious upgrade.

Fade you can cure with a fluid replacement, most of the time. With brakes these big, as long as there's enough air getting to them, you could stop a lot more than this car for enduros.

The brakes on the 135i should surpass my M3's brakes. Which are spectacular.

For stock class setup, steel braided lines, SRF fluid and race pads that like high heat (unless you are in a class that allows front brake ducting) is what I'm thinking.

Looks like it will be impossible to change pads on those front calipers without removing the calipers. That's a shame, since one of the nice things about Brembos has been changing pads VERY quickly...

That's my plan as well. Fairly cheap, huge bang for the buck, mod.
