Dumb Question - Cupholders?

This will be a great daily driver but I can't see the cupholders in any of the pics. Doesn't look like they are in the dash like the current 3 series or Z4 and are not in the console like the E46. Has anyone seen them?

There are 2 by the parking break if you opt not to get iDrive.

That's what I tell my kids. My wife is more lenient, but her car's interior is a good example on why you shouldn't allow food or drink.

However, I must confess that I do occasionally bring a drink along for my long commute.

Only beverage allowed in my car is bottled water...that is it. I guess you can say I'm a little anal when it comes to my cars upkeep.

Garage List
It "should" get the same type of cupholder as the 3 series that slides out of the dash from above the glove box.

The might still be one in the console instead of two, but more likely it will be a similar setup to the 3 series. I'm sure that there will be cupholders as they are almost mandatoy for the US market. :iono:

I think I figured it out. Looking at a some of the newer videos posted of the 135i, I did a screencap of the interior that flashes by of a iDrive equipped car, and shows (what I believe) is the single cupholder up front.

The dash obviously did not have retractable cupholders like the e9x's in the video, but look to the right of the shifter. What else could that be?

I think that you are spot on regarding the pop-up cupholder. Good catch.

Who would have thought that cupholders would warrant as much discussion as the engine or suspension. Too funny!

Seriously, god forbid this car doesn't have a cupholder the world as we know it would come to an end...kidding.

I don't care too much for cupholders.... In my E36, the damn things could barely hold a Red Bull can, but I really rarely drink while driving except on longer trips.... I don't find them or iDrive necessary, but if given the choice, I'll take cupholders every time.

I think thats just the storage bin without the lid. I would rather have the bin like that. The lid looks cheap.

Define Cupholder

Over on Porsche Pete's Boxster Board, the definition of cupholders has taken a turn; a cupholder is the slang term for one's significant other riding in the passenger seat.

Although, that sounds good, that's just as likely to get a bottle of water dumped in my lap as the crappy cupholder from my e90

I like the cupholder on the side of the console...e46ish...as opposed to up on the dash. And, I only need one.

What's the story with the extra "à la 6-Series" cupholder from the shots below. It seems that ought to be be an option if iDrive were selected but there are no official photo or specs that mentions it.

Maybe there are more inside the center console?

If you don't get iDrive there are 2 in the center console, but one is in a bad location underneath the lip of the armrest, so don't expect to put much in it. You can see the very edge of it in the photo 2 posts above mine -- as you can see the armrest sits over it. So nothing larger than a soda can will fit.

If you get iDrive, there is only 1 in the center console. Unfortunately it's the largely useless one. And you can elect the get the optional one that is shown in the image 2 posts above mine.

Here's a better image of the cupholder in the iDrive equipped model:

Note the cupholder underneath the center armrest.

And here's a bad image of the cupholders in a non-iDrive model:

The ebrake is in the way, but you can see the 2 cupholders in the center armrest. Note that the rear one is under the armrest. Not as much as it is on the iDrive model, but close enough to it you're not putting a Big Gulp in there.

They are cupholders like in the X3. iDrive gets 1 Cupholder and non-iDrive gets 2.
