So bimmercode said they are not going to support the 23 x1’s. Does any know if my Carly will work ?

if I have to guess... probably not... it won't be financially feasible since very few X1 owners will be interested.

the only things that I'm hoping to change via coding are:

(1) activate rear fog light(on the right side, next to the reverse light)

(2) deactivate the silly "BMW" light on the ground

(3) permanent disableing of engine auto stop/start

(4) deactivate horn honking when exiting vehicle with engine running

Hopefully once someone is able to figure out coding for iDrive 8 in general it will port over easily to the X1. Right now what I’ve been reading is iDrive 8 communicates with the corporate servers to validate any coding changes, so until they can figure out a workaround for that I think we’re out of luck.

I'm already thinking of cancelling my existing order.(placed in November) I do not want my X1 to have the old head unit with iDrive 8. Waiting 3 extra months for the new head unit with iDrive 9 seems the sensible thing to do?

That’s your choice, for me it’s not an option. My lease on my current car is already up, and my beater ‘06 Scion xB is not nearly suitable enough to be a replacement vehicle for more than a couple weeks. I personally can’t think of anything iDrive 9 will add to the features of the car that will make me want it enough to cancel my current order (which should be here in a week). From what I’ve read there’s a strong indication that we’ll get iDrive 8.5 via an update, which other than the App Store and a few other things, is visually the same as iDrive 9.

If there's really no allocations available in the entire USA, it ain't gonna be 3 months. My order took 4 months when the dealer had available allocations in August.

They aren't going to support the X1 *ever*, or just "for now"?

if there is money to be made, I'm sure they'll do it.

back when I had the old W202 Mercedes C280, I wanted to install a supercharger... the manufacturer, Kleemann(from Denmark) said they didn't have a supercharge kit... I waited and waited.. finally they came out with one almost 2 years later. I had it installed and it was great.... which was fine.. until Mercedes came out with the AMG C43 with 4.3-liter V8 engine. I waited another 16 months and took delivery of one. (the C280 with Kleemann supercharger was not something a Mercedes dealer would take as trade-in, so I ended up selling it on eBay... and almost broke even) PSA: don't waste money when you're young... like how I was young and stupid and wasted so much money... well... at least all of my money went to aftermarket stereo and cars... not cocaine or cigarettes.

Stephen said he's waiting...never said to me never....just give it time. Same with Carly.

Has nothing to do with making it financially viable...the app is already developped and he charges accordingly for its use....just give it a couple ofore months

I just can’t stand the auto start stop in conjunction with the auto hold feature. Their is such a severe lag of the engine kicking back on. I never turn it off cause I don’t wanna have to keep turning it off 😂

Remember last setting for stop/start and sport mode. You mentioned a good one with the rear fog light. Wonder if closing the hatch with the remote is a possibility?

For me, I'm hoping for:

-Individual tire PSI read out on TPMS in iDrive display (I liked having this on my 430i)
-Start in Sport mode (doubt this can be done)
-Remember Auto Start/Stop settings
-Close Hatch with Remote

A couple of the must have coding features I did on my 430i are now standard like folding in the mirrors when locking, and disabling dynamic sounds

wow... I didn't know that...

are you saying the X1 doesn't display the tire pressure PSI numbers for each tire? even a cheap minivan from 5 years ago can do that. (which was how I found out that a minivan that I rented from Hertz have super overinflated tires a few years ago... they had well over 50psi each... which was confirmed by a handheld tire gauge)

All the BMW’s I’ve owned have never given the actual PSI readout in the display, only an indicator on which tire was low and green if the other tires were okay.

Maybe that’s good. My OCD kicks in when my car reports three tires at 35 PSI and one tire at 34.

oh man... and no BMW owner has complained about this yet?

my first Lexus with TPMS many years ago had just one light in the dash to indicate low tire pressure... no way to tell which of the 5 tires was low unless I got out to check each one.

then my other car had individual read about about 5 or 6 years ago. It was so much better because I could tell which tire was low and how many PSI it had... if it was just a couple of PSI below spec, I would wait a few hours. If it was 5 or 6 psi below, I would immediately inflate it... so much easier that way.

My F30 absolutely shows the PSI for each tire, as does the X1.

good to know! I was actually worried! Thanks!

this is my first BMW ever... prior to this, I've only owned/leased Lexus, Mercedes, Lincoln and Oldsmobile(yes, I know, I know...)

I had to code it in on my f32 LCI My e90 was just red green or yellow, and my e92 never had iDrive

My F30 is a ‘14, and was never coded so it seems odd your LCI didn’t have it. Maybe it was part of the Extended Contents option?
