Performance Experience?
I know the X1 isn’t meant to be a high performance car like the X3M/M40i etc.
But curious about people’s perceptions of its performance. Does it have enough pep to be fun? Over take cars easily while passing? Stuff like that?

Your sig says you've got an M4, so you might be disappointed. I'm coming out of a '14 328i xDrive and the X1 is just a quick, if not quicker around suburban driving (which is all I've done with is so far).

Appreciate both your comments so far.
I am coming from an M4. Starting a family and need to get a more family friendly car that doesn’t cost me a grand a month in payments, but still has some driving thrill. X1 is in the lead in this category, so gathering some insight from current X1 drivers is helpful.

My '20 430i has 248hp and not nearly as much torque as the X1 and is more than enough for me to get in trouble (got a speeding ticket the day I bought it), so I imagine as long as gearing doesn't drastically change the performance should be close.

I came from a 228i with 228 hp. I know the difference is minimal, and I'm sure the extra weight on the x1 washes most of it out, but I do feel it's got a better 0-60 more than the .1 seconds listed on bmwusa.com as the difference between the two.

Quote impressed with the pep from a stop, especially in sport mode. Smoked an Audi from a stoplight yesterday.

I'm not sure how things have changed with the U11 but the F48, even the LCI, never let you forget you were in a budget / entry level BMW. I remember getting in a buddy's 330i and thinking it felt way more premium than my X1. The X1 is for sure a quick, torquey and nimble car, but you'll also never forget you're in a FWD-biased car. That being said, I think it fits nicely with your new priorities in life. As for the competition (MB GLA, Audi Q3, Lexus UX), you'll likely find the X1 the most driver focused. I also see some brokers in my area offering 4-6% off MSRP so well under $1k should be more than achievable

Coming from an F30 340i w/ ~400hp and the 28i has plenty of performance for DD purposes. That car was admittedly overkill for DDing though, but fun. Still on the break-in period (another 100km), so I haven’t pushed it much. That said, it has plenty of overtaking power and top end for autobahn driving. We have the X Line, so it’s not as sharp as I presume the M-Sport would be handling wise. The 295 ft-lbs is quite pleasant.
My wife’s 2020 X1 feels like it has sharper handling, but that may be due to its lower weight. It’s for a better exhaust note too IMO. The U11 is definitely more premium than the F48 though. Brake pedal feel is definitely mushy for a BMW, but not a deal breaker. Maybe for an M35i it would be. Now this car with 320 horse…might have to get one in a few years |

Zero issues. Plugged it in the first week I had the car and kind of forgot about it. I left it on the default dial, didn't open it up and crank it higher
The turbo spool and blow off sounds were super loud and really cool for a car of this nature Besides the actual measurable power increases which you can find on Burger's website, the feeling of increased torque was super noticeable versus stock and I didn't observe too much drop off from 80-100+ but I know it's there from folks who have dyno'd the car and recorded comparison videos on the road The only negative I'd say is you certainly lose the smooth shifts and power delivery from the stock car. It was a fair trade off for me but I'd be lying if I said the jerky shifts at certain speeds and the braking-like feel when you let off the throttle after heavy acceleration wasn't unpleasant at times I'd sometimes apologize to my girlfriend for the jolts. It wasn't as bad as it sounds but it's for sure noticeable at times
