Production status 105

Good morning all,

I am after a little advice!

I have an order in for a new build petrol x1 xline Xdrive, all was going fine until 7 December 22, when my order went to status 105 from 112. The production week was 12 December 2022. The bmw sales rep states he doesn’t know why it’s gone to 105. The on line BMW rep has said this usually occurs when the dealer has run out of build slots.

Does anyone know how this proceededs forward from here. The dealers have not been that forthcoming.

This is my thinking:
  1. Pull the deal and go elsewhere
  2. Keep the current order
  3. Buy something already in the dealership.

Obviously I would like my original order.

Mick

Hi Mick,

I’m in the same position with my X1 23i M Sport order in the UK. My order was at 112 due to be built Week 50 and is now sitting at 105.

From what I’ve learnt about BMW production codes, the BMW online rep was wrong. You have an allocation, but an option on your build is subject to supply issues - for my order, it’s the panoramic sunroof. As soon as BMW has resolved the supply issue, it will receive a new build week…unfortunately for my order, they can’t say how long it will be.

Hope this helps inform your decision process.

Thanks for your reply, my order is in the UK too.

I just wish the dealers would be upfront and let you know the issues. The dealer says he doesn’t know what the issue is.

I’m in the same position with my X1 18d order in Spin. My order was at 112 due to be built Week 49 and is now sitting at 105.I ordered the car in mid October 2022.

The next build week prpovided is on the 11th week in 2023. Somewhere in March 2023. I was told by my dealer that it is likely that the production will happen earlier and that usually around the first week of January, the new dates are updated.

I hope this helps.

Depending on what your alternatives are, I would wait.

X1 is instantly my second most favorite vehicle I have owned.

Search here for the “chrome hack” or “chrome trick” extension. If you use another browser you can see this info using its developer tools when visiting the BMW My Garage site

So I have managed to speak to a manager at the dealership, and I have been informed that there is a issue with parts for the 23i engine nationally in the UK. The manager stated that if you ordered today that there would be advising an end of year lead time. So I am buying a higher spec from them that is physically there in the dealership.

what does that mean? (because isn't end of year just 3 days away?)

how many other available X1s does the dealer have on the lot at the moment?

Wut? Why on earth would there be a full year wait? I'm really happy with my car, but there's no way I'd wait a year for an X1.

That's what I thought as well... but 1 year seems excessive, no?

Of course, if I was getting a new Bentley built to my specifications, I probably wouldn't mind.

This is just an example; if you search auto trader petrol 23i’s are like as rare as hens teeth. They are far and few between.

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I wanted to see.

Too bad BMW has chosen to disable the rear fog light for the US.

Happy New Year! I still have two more hours to go until 2023.
