Stupid Question

How do you turn the radio off?

Although we never listen to the radio, we got the HK system because it was bundled with some other stuff we wanted. So, turned it on because I thought I should at least see what it sounds like. OK, it sounds like a radio. Now, how do I make it go away?

I can mute it, but it seems to come back after the car is restarted. How do I kill it?

ps - I read the manual, for what it was worth.

Mute is off on BMW.

But I'm with you - this is on my list of Qs for the Genius. It drives me crazy. When I get home from work, and park in my garage, I come around the car and get my briefcase out of the passenger side and if I forget to mute the radio, it comes back on and stays on for a few minutes until the car completely shuts off.

Can't you just turn the volume down to zero?

Pressing the volume button on the console down for MUTE is actually easier than turning the volume all the way down.

Would a second press of the start button work?

When you finish your journey, you will press start button to switch you engine, a second press will shut off the power

what happens if you use voice command like "turn off radio"?

also... as long as we're on the subject of the radio, can the X1(or any other BMW) radio pick up NOAA weather band, like on Mercedes factory radios?

Thanks!

I'm just glad that BMW still has AM radio on the X1.

The lady responds with something like "sure", not OK, I'll turn off the radio, but it doesn't turn off.

I know that, but the point was the car unmutes the radio on a restart. If you've set the volume to zero does it not remain at zero on a restart?

I have not experienced the car unmuting on restart. Make sure you are logged into the same profile when you restart, and if you are using a key fob (and not the digital key), you have assigned a PIN and associated that fob with that profile. If you've done that, the radio should still be muted on restart.
