on available. Is Active Driving Assistant Pro worth it? What exactly does it do? For example, if the X1 doesn't have this option, will the regular cruise control automatically slow down or stop the car if the traffic in front slows down from 70mph to a complete stop?(like in a traffic jam) If it has this $1700 option, will it stop by itself? Very confused......

Active Driving Assistant Pro
$1,700
Innovative camera/radar-based driver assistance systems provide partly-automated support to deliver peace of mind. Features like Steering and Lane Keeping Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, Emergency Stop Assistant, and Evasion Aid assist the driver during critical driving situations, such as a health emergency or the sudden presence of vehicles or pedestrians in front of the car.

Sounds like semi-autonomous driving features.

Correction from previous post - 5AU was an additional $2kCAD so passed on it. Can be handy if you do a lot of highway driving. I have some of the 5UA features in my '20 x3mc and I use it quite a bit.

so... for someone who does very little highway driving, it's not worth it? (or highway driving where there are tons of cars/SUVs and semis, like the NJ Turnpike or I-95 near New York City)

If you think any of these features would be useful...Toronto population is around 7.5m and now (sadly) boasts the busieat highway I'm north America...I personally don't use the features in the city, but out on the highway outside of the city quite a bit.

Steering / Lane Keep Assist; Lane Change Assistant; Emergency Stop Assistant; Evasion Aid

with the regular cruise control set at 100km/h in a 2023 BMW, will the car try to stop if the car ahead suddenly slows down or stops? or will that require the optional package?

Thanks!

That would require the 5AU package

I have regenerative braking and don't have 5AU

EDIT: sorry, misread your post. I don't have the 5AU but I do have the emergency brake feature

Hoping this finds its way onto the Connected Drive store, I'd love to try it out

I don't think that's possible, is it? It requires different buttons on the left side of the steering wheels.

They recently added it on the iX store which has the same buttons on the left side. I believe the mode button lets you choose the type of cruise control. It's definitely a bit of wishful thinking on my part!

If I'm not mistaken, in some videos I saw online, the Premium Package has that button but it currently does nothing.

There is automatic breaking, while pushing the gas. ( haven’t tried the whole highway and it breaking when you get to someone) Had an incident with a park car and the X1 did the warning with the red car symbol and applied emergency breaking.

Corect. My steering wheel has a mode button on it but when pressed says function not available.

I'm hoping that all the hardware is there, and it just requires the software enabled to get the feature. I personally wouldn't get the Driving Assistant Pro, but it would be nice to know that other early buyers could get the feature if they wanted.

As far as I'm aware the hardware is there already and it's just a software update to get everything working. I have it on mine and the mode button gives you the option of speed limit, cruise control or assisted driving. My car is a Premier Pro so has all the options from factory though.

I assume your is not a us spec. Us spec didn’t come with the option as eu/uk/Aussie x1 have to put for later/ or equipped out of the factory.

Correct UK spec, I was just highlighting that the buttons on the wheel are the same and the menus simply change when you press them.

If your car doesn't have the camera in the driver's display, you won't be able to add the DAPP through CD. It requires the camera so it can monitor your eyes to make sure you're watching the road for the hands free driving under 40mph.

after a few days of searching and asking the salesman, I am now more confused than ever....

on the 2023 X1, if I'm just driving on the interstate at around 75mph without using cruise control and the car ahead of me suddenly comes to a full panic stop, will my X1's emergency braking do anything? (with or without the optional $1700 Driving Assistant Professional)

Thanks!

If your '23 X1 has Forward Warning Collison it should. The HUD or driver's display will flash a red car, make a loud warning noise, and brake. However, it depends on the situation and if it thinks you're reacting fast enough.

I've had my '21 X3 and '22 X5 45e automatically brake because someone cut me off on the highway, BUT I know it will only do this up to a certain speed, and unfortunately I don't remember what that speed is.

Though I have had situations where it braked without using DAPP or cruise, there were times it just flashed red the car in the HUD.

Edit: I added 3 photos from the manual explaining Forward Warning Collison, and not sure of they're coming across correctly.
