are included as standard equipment in base X1.

Premium Package adds Parking Assistant "Plus" added as well as "active" park distance control.

What are the differences?

Backup assistant is where the vehicle remembers how you pulled into a spot, and backs you out in the exact same fashion.

Parking assistant, on the x1, I believe is just the audible alerts for when your park distance control gets close to another object. Active park distance control should be what prevents you from actually hitting someone in case you don't brake.

Parking assistant plus should be the actual automated parking for the vehicle, with you only controlling acceleration and braking.

Parking Assistant is the actual self-parking feature - it uses the Park Distance Control sensors.

Parking Assistant Plus adds Surround View (the 360 cameras) and the extra features those enable, like Remote 3D View.

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of excited to try out some of these features to see how good they are compared to my own driving. Up till now, the most I've had is PDC and a backup camera. If the system can park between the lines faster than I can do on my own, I'm all for it.

The MINI Countryman my X1 is replacing has self parking. There is something delightful about the steering wheel moving on its own. The main issue that I’ve had with it is that it can be finicky about detecting that you are passing a parking spot.

I am still skeptical that we will get everything in the packages as some of the codes do not show up when I decode my VIN (and others I have tried) The big ones that I do not see are codes for Digital Key Plus and Drive Recorder. They may be buried in other codes but it is hard to tell.

We will find out soon enough as these start to get delivered.

I am hopeful that the codes for the drive recorder and digital key are bundled in with some of the other vague descriptions of items in the packages, like 9PC in the premium package might supersede the codes from the convenience package or something.

The Digital Key Plus is included in 9PB of ZCV per the aforementioned order guide and the Drive Recorder is included in ZX3 of ZPP. They are included in the notes on the order guide.

It would be interesting to run a non-Premium Package build through the VIN decoder to see what shows up, as the output of that broke out more of the Premium content than was on the order sheet.

Or now that first wave of these cars are at dealers, we should be able to get a first hand answer on Digital Key.

You are correct but they do not show up in the VIN decoder so who knows.
