Using an iPhone to measure acceleration
I just got an iPhone 3G and got the PocketDyno app (the free one) so I decided to see how quick my car was just for fun. I'm not sure how accurate this thing is but I launched at around 3,000 and this is what I got:
60' 2.38 seconds 330' 6.21 seconds 1/8 9.36 seconds @ 80.11 mph 1000' 12.04 seconds 0-10 .69 seconds 0-20 1.41 seconds 0-30 2.19 seconds 0-40 3.37 seconds 0-50 4.47 seconds 0-60 5.64 seconds 0-70 7.51 seconds 0-80 9.34 seconds 0-90 11.38 seconds I'm no drag racing expert but these times seem too quick to be possible. My car's manual and I've got an Injen intake, removed my clutch delay valve and am running non runflat Michelins but I don't think my car should be able to hit 60 in 5.6...what do you guys think? |

if you have a sedan then it seems kinda fast, because i think for 07 sedan 0-60 time is around 6.1 seconds ?? if you have coupe then i think thats seems a little bit faster than average but its reasonable.

I downloaded pocket dyno but have not tried it yet.
I have tried DynoLicious out ($13) based on Motor Trend's recommendation. It doesn't seem as though the numbers are that realistic, however at 4500 feet elevation on winter tires, there are other variables that are factoring into my times. Also the skid pad feature is loads of fun (I use a local roundabout). I would not count on the HP numbers being worth anything, but for $13 I have had an enormous amount of fun with it. |

You have to make sure the weight you enter is accurate, including gas, driver, everything. That program can measure acceleration but without a good weight the speed/time figures are garbage. Calibrate the app too.
