X1 U11 Delivery Stop

I just found this on BMW TIS... It looks like there will be a delay in delivery for the X1 U11

Well crap, that’s not good. Does this apply to all X1’s? Also, my X1 is already built, so I’m guessing these will all be performed at the dealer?

It could be held up at port and done there. Depends on where it's currently at.

It'll likely be done when it arrives at the vpc. Hopefully remedies don't take too long to release.

Appreciate the input. Hopefully it doesn't take too long. Would like to lock in a rate asap before they go higher in October

You can do a 120 day rate lock with BMW if you are wanting to finance through them.

Yeah I think they're rate is high at the moment though? I got quoted 3.8% through another bank. We're just waiting till it's in on the boat and in transit to do the lock

as low as 4.29% for up to 60 months. You can find lower right now, but even in the last 2 weeks I've had credit unions raise rates twice already. I can't imagine it gets too much higher, but I wouldn't make that bet with someone else's money. For some, an extra inquiry wouldn't bother them enough to not lock in at 4.29 as a fall back, for others, it would.

Yeah that definitely makes sense. Might go ahead and lock that in as a back up

Not sure... At this point, I can't see any remedy on TIS. Hopefully they will be addressed soon at the dealer.

Rates won’t be heading down any time soon.

Are these items pretty normal for new redesigns? This is not unexpected, right?

I don't know that either. But I thought some euro models were delivered already. So maybe there will be recalls for them? From the TIS info, it seems there are problems with DME and spark plugs so the U11 doesn't seem to be safe to drive at the moment... Also, there are no resolutions to the technical campaigns too.

I read on TIS that U11 will come with B48P engine, with direct and port injection. I'm guessing the dual injection system is causing the delivery stop, but I'm not certain. If I remember correctly, B48P has been used on X2 before. Not sure why there is a problem with U11 this time around.

There's been worse stop sales to occur with no resolution when the notice was first released. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

I called Genius to ask about the timeline for delivery and the stop orders. She said my specific X1 has two stop orders: the spark plugs and a software update that won't be ready till mid-October regarding the headlights.

My X1 has been dispatched from the factory after having been completed on Sep. 16. She said it's likely 4-6 weeks before it even gets put on a vessel. I was surprised at that. And to add three weeks to that for the voyage across the sea and time spent at customs/getting fixed before being put on a truck to the dealership. She said best case is likely early November for delivery.

I've had a few ship from germany over the years and none took more than ~8 days to cross the ocean to the Halifax port, depending on the crossing weather naturally. For these recalls, that's nothing. The dme update takes only a couple of hours and I assume a spark plug change at the port would be less than 2 hours, then on a train to Toronto, so another week or thereabouts. My wife's completed production a few days ago and expect to be on a train to ship within about a week. So in her case, probably Nov 1-6 is my guess, based on past orders.

Mine also has been stuck in Quality Check for about 2-3 weeks. Still is showing Quality Check today. I'm assuming this is to remedy the stop order parts before it leaves the factory. What's odd is that it's taking so long. If it's just the spark plugs and DME, that should take all of about 30 minutes to replace. I'm wondering if they don't even have the fix yet. I remember I had a recall on the ISOFIX anchors in a previous BMW and BMW blocked lease transfers because of the open recall and yet they didn't have a fix for it until 3 or 4 months later.
