Hi all, pardon my ignorance, but when the new X1 says it comes standard with a power liftgate, does that mean it's also hands free?

Yeah power so it can lift itself up, either with the button, key, internal switch or a kick under the bumper.

OK so it doesn't require you to push a button (on the fob or on the car itself) if you're holding something large in your arms, then, right?

If you have the comfort pack it adds the ability to do the kick to open, kick to close. If you don’t it’s a button to close the tailgate.

Handsfree tailgate is being deleted from most vehicles, including my iXM60 ... I hate to break it to you, your X1 will likely have this deleted as well, they all use the same parts, and BMW has been reserving the limited supply parts for their most expensive models (as evidenced over the past year's production).

I did just also buy an i4e40 last week, and that had the handsfree tailgate delete, however upon delivery I had to sign an acknowledgement form to the matter, and it included a promise of a free retrofit of the feature later in 2022 when parts become available.

If it is missing on your exact build, hopefully you also receive the corporate "owe" for future no charge retrofit.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll brace myself. I won't be happy, but as long as they retrofit it afterward, I guess I'll live.

Confirm this is the case for me. My car has the 'option' 32X - deletion of contactless operation of tailgate. At least my car is built and on the sea on the way to me .....
