steering wheel inserts (non sport) help

guys, is it possible to remove these black plastic trim pieces for re-trimming ? I know one with round airbag it comes off, but this is non-sport 2006 steering wheel with trapezoid shaped airbag ... all answers appreciated.

I heard somewhere that it's impossible to take these of so i'd like to double check. I plan to either repaint the console in gloss black OR put the CF fabric on it and I'd like find it if i can have the steering wheel to match - it would be a nice touch imho.

are there screws in the back of the steering wheel? probably. or they might be held in with clips. you will most likely need to remove the airbag anyways before you do anything so take it apart to see what you are looking at.

Maybe

The only thing I could offer is to go to www.realoem.com , find the wheel and see if it shows the wheel in a parts exploded view. That might give you some ideas on how to disassemble it. But be careful that you don't set off the bag.

when i said i heard its impossible it was because of this real oem reference actually. it does look like its a part of the steering wheel... hm.. we don't want the airbag to go off. i guess I'll have to set this off as last thing to mod inside
