I've seen some threads on how to replace the phone tray with a wireless phone charger. I have the NFC card reader in my 2021 330e.

Anyone ever try this option? Any opinions? Looks like an easier fix vs a complete replacement, but I'm wondering if the tray can be closed with it inserted. Thanks!

Not sure if this will impair the NFC reader. My factory wireless charger is only good at heating up the phone and doesn’t really charge it up. Honestly I recommend using wire over wireless

same. i bought the charger after i bought the car. really unless my phone is at 70% or more it doesnt charge, it just maintains current battery. if its 25% or less it overheats and turns orange very fast. even with these flaws i still prefer it over cables

exact same experience. can’t say i’m not disappointed as i thought i could live wire free with the G20. the amount of heat generated is likely to shorten phone battery longevity and made me rethink utilizing the wireless charger for anything other than to start up the car using the phone as digital key

Thanks for the link. How's it working for you? I noticed the link says "not for NFC". Did your car have NFC prior to the install?

Yes it has the NFC thing, this units sits on top of that and kinda settles into the opening so it doesn't move...it is a tighter fit due to the limited space , I have an S20 with a case though so a phone up to that size works...I can post a pic later

It works ok, I mainly only use it on long road trips as AA tends to drain the battery quick, got a newer phone that has great battery life so not as much of an issue as before. At first I was annoyed I couldn't get the BMW wireless charge pad at all since I had NFC there instead....NFC is completely useless to me, but of course so are all the driver's aids...lol
