Whats wrong ??
Hey guys,
I have a E92 DCT 335i. Just want to know the following, When i try to brake boost, no matter in what mode (D,M or S), whether DTC on or DTC/DSC off, i cant seem to bring the revs up above 1400rpm when i floor the pedal all the way till right before kickdown switch. And after 0.5secs, the revs drops down to <1000rpm even when the accelerator stays at the same position. Below is a video of the problem. All the while in this video, i'm holding on the brakes and accelerating to right before kickdown and staying there. Heard that this might be BMW's "invention" to prevent us from spoiling something. But if so, how are we suppose to launch the car then ? Anyone encountered this problem before ? |

I'm assuming you are doing this because you want to 'launch' the car in a drag race. Do your wallet a big favor and just floor the throttle when you want the car to go forward. 335 has enough low end torque to overpower one of the rear tires anyway, so you would not be gaining anything other than clutch wear if you launched at a higher rpm |

Regardless of whether it has it or not, I stand by my original statement of "Do your wallet a big favor and just floor the throttle when you want the car to go forward"
"Launch control" is nothing more than a computer optimized, high rpm clutch slip launch. The stress on the drivetrain components is the same whether is it is a traditional manual transmission or a 'dual clutch' automatic transmission executing the launch. The key difference, is that when you wear out the clutch on a traditional manual transmission, you have the option of paying ~$1000 to replace the clutch and maybe the flywheel. When you wear out the clutch in a DTC transmission you get to bend over in a huge way and pony up the $$$$ for a new transmission (DCT is 1 sealed unit, clutch is not a serviceable part) Anyway, sorry to get off topic OP, I just wanted to get across that maybe you should not be so anxious to do abusive launches to your new car |
