Randomly having to reactivate A/C?

I don't know if I'm going crazy or what but randomly I'll have my AC on and realize the air isn't as cool as it should be and I'll go into the AC menu and see that the A/C check is unchecked and I'll have to reselect it.

Am I doing something where this is unchecking itself? Anyone else have this issue?

I’ve had this happen too, and have no idea what triggers it.

Hmm… I've been having the same issue as well. Interested to see if anyone has a fox for this.

I blamed my gf of this. Solved.

But really, glad to see I'm not alone in this. Also reported to dealer and they did a software update so they say.

I got the latest update too. And I thought it was my wife switching the AC off. Worst part is having to go through the menu to turn it back on instead of a single button.

Let's see if the update helps.

Picked up my 2021 M340i about 6 weeks and it's happened 3 or 4 times. I haven't actually looked anywhere to see if the A/C was showing as off, but the compressor is certainly cut off. It turns back on without any intervention on my part within 30 seconds tops. I believe my software is 03/2021.46.

I wonder if this is the same feature as the automatic seat heating. It was one of BMWs first widescale machine learning implementations

Maybe this is related?

When I remote start my car my seat warmers are set to only come on when it's 4 degrees or lower, same thing with my steering wheel. When I remote start my car everything is blistering hot(we are summer) and sometimes my AC Is in and sometimes it isn't. Same as you guys it randomly shuts off the AC for no reason and the climate control start climates the wrong way sometimes.

It's been happening off an on since I got my car over a year ago, have had 3 software updates since but the issue is not solved. It is a PIA but I'm used to it now, just hold down the Menu A/C button then scroll right and activate the climate control - takes me a couple of seconds and a few swear words lol…

Same here. In my case it started happening after the first 2021 software update.

Another example of why it makes absolutely NO sense (for the car owner) to remove the physical buttons/switches for the AC.

I'm still on 07/2020.54 and still have the issue, so not sure if the update is the problem.

In a way I am pleased to read this thread - I thought I was going mad..my a/c wasn’t coming on when I started the car a few weeks back, it came on when I pressed the button to clear the windscreen (‘full’?) and was fine when I switched that off. Seems to be ok now.

When reading the posts in this thread I wonder whether the a/c is being switched off/reduced in effectiveness if the car battery isn’t fully charged? During lockdown when i wasn’t using my 330i much i had a few things disabled such as Comfort Access, all restored when I plugged in a battery conditioner for a few hours.

Stop/start was also disabled when the battery was less than fully charged

What happens if you just hit the AUTO button instead of going into the menu? Does that turn the AC back on? It does on mine, but doesn't matter since I'm an "always AUTO" guy and hardly ever have to touch my HVAC, just curious.

I always have mine on auto too, but it still switches the A/C off randomly
