How many M3 owners here are now running on winters?
I have gone checked out a set of winters for my M3 sedan w/ 18" wheels. Got a quote for $1500 installed Prelli tires I forgot the model but was told that was a decent set of winters to get.
Do you guys think it's a good deal? Any suggestions?

bad bad deal... you can get a set on tire rack shipped around $1000. Get them installed for 25-30 a wheel. so that totals in to around $1200

at that kind of money you are better off getting 18" M6 replicas with Hankook icebears for around $1800. Then you will always have another set of wheels to sell when your done with the car.

Please let me know where you guys can get those kind of deal. I was checking out the tirerack website thru the links and a set of tires I am looking for is quoted at USD$1291 including duties and brokerage. However, the USD:CND is now 1:1.16...........and that's why I think it's cheaper.

I got the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 for $ 1400.
But yes, Michelins are expensive, so if you wanna save $$ get another brand. Then again you own an M3.... |

So I am getting set up with 18" rims and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's mounted locally (Steelcase) for $2K...installing probably next week.
And if it were tires only...tire rack is pretty hard to beat! |

Why are you even running winters? It doesnt snow there. (assuming you live in Van).
I just got a set of new M5 wheels take offs and Blizzaks for $1800, and Dunlop's for 900 on my Audi. Plus Pirelli's suck. |

They can get pounded in Surrey but on the water at Whiterock nothing but rain. Head to North Van, same issues, really localized nasty wet snow. Some days in Van people just take the bus, you cannot even drive, the roads can be so truly bad. Plus snowplows, what snowplows, they are never prepared and are grossly underequipped for snow in winter. Last edited by sparkyg; 11-06-2008 at 09:54 PM.. |

unfortunately, I am one of the guys living in Surrey. Last year, in my area, I had to clear the driveway 18 times to go out in snow days when I had a FWD vehicle. I am certainly not driving the M3 during now days. However, I do need to drive around during the winter days when it's not snowing, so a set of winters is kind of necessary in my case.

I have a set of 4 OEM 18inch rims with 245/50 tires for sale. Rims are mounted on Dunlop SP Wintersport M3's with about 90% tread left. Very very good in the snow. They came off my 7 series but should fit the M. If interested I will let them go for $1500. I can also help you mount them if needed.
